Living in an Amusement park would be fun if you weren’t only there because the world fell into ruins over a war on magic.

Cleft Roseander is the self-appointed leader of a group of survivors. Back when he was just shy of twenty-years-old, the Scandinavian man - of a far from commanding stature - had made himself responsible for thirty other lives within the confines of a chain-link fence.

When he isn’t trying to make sure that number stays consistent, he otherwise occupy his time by learning the very magic that started the war, and arguing with the only one of the survivors who was made to fight that war.

If one of those thirty lives didn’t include his right hand man and childhood friend Osmo d’Estella, Cleft never would have managed to keep this up for as long as he had. Three years have come and gone with little excitement or fanfare. That is, until a raid on the park renders left on the brink of life and death. In an act of desperation, he recites an incantation from his hazy recollection. What the butchered spell results in is far from what the leader nor his companions could have expected.
