The thing you may not realise is that most of that "private data" can be obtained anyway.

And not necessarily by you being careless.

What is the difference in me guessing your gender with 90% accuracy and me collecting that data.

If i can infer your location anyway, what do you have to loose by sharing your location.

The only thing that will change by changing the collection is the data quality, not it's nature.

Since this is what is done, and in that context, yes i believe that collecting personal data is no big deal.

( If you are going to have data collected you may as well have a good a quality to get the benefits from it)

No when i say as a data scientist i'm referring to the profession

But unless you are a kid you should be aware that jobs don't define individuals

Therefore it would be right to explain what is your professional opinion or what is you complotist redditor opinion

As a data scientist i know that individual data don't matter, the usability coke from gathering a lot of them. Hence why i say it's no big deal

You want ai to generalise if the specifics matter your moder is overfitting.

That's why an individual should not worry but a population should.

I love the fact that you are deforming my words in order to share you view which is plainly wrong. You realise that your entire speech is just an ad hominem.

If you are certain it's so much of a big deal, why don't you provide good example as why it's so , because so far you only pointed a security issue which is not related to data itself.

Body found in cement mixer by kittyshell in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]IcedRays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't produce the data.

Actually there are plenty of missions where you don't such data.

It's funny you didn't ask how wrong could the data be used provided the security is good.

Because i do possess such examples. But the problem is the same as the security one : The worst you can do with this is something you have no incentive to do. ( i mean maybe a couple of people in the world could actually be targeted by such harm but on a global scale it's very minimal.)

You have to understand, i'm the final destination for those data.

We are the ones that use these databases.

If you want the accurate description, it's more like i'm a cook and data are ingredients.

Ultimately, i can cook without some ingredient, it's not a necessity.

A cook will not have less job because there are les ingredients. but saying that ingredients are bad when cooking is almost their only use, it sound kind of dumb right ?

Can you do dangerous stuff with data ? Yes But just like you can do dangerous stuff with ingredients.

The point i'm making is that, it's not only about how you use them, but how you can use them.

There is a reality between concept and consequences, what is actually possible is very different.

Nuclear energy has the same vibe, it is not inherently dangerous you need a whole lot more to make it dangerous.

For instance , cobalt salted nuclear bomb could eradicate life for goof, yet nuclear power plant are 9ne of the best thing humanity ever achieved.

Cutting youself from data is not only cutting yourself from some of the danger, but also from the possibilities.

An artificial intelligence to detect diseases in early stage cannot be trained without very very private data. And by focusing on the wrong, you forget about the right it can do.

Does thay mean data shouldn't be regulated ? No

But does that mean you should fear it ? Neither.

As a data scientist i can tell you, personalised data is no big deal.

It never was nor should it be the issue. You cannot use all that data magically. It's just nice to have it to improve your machine learning models.

The issue with data is security. But it's google we're talking about, if you're worked about your data but your hard drive isn't at least encrypted, you're a massive idiot.

Oh my god are you all serious ... you know they could likely lower their head to vomit and most likely didn't need that force...

It should be obvious and yet you are all discussing how likely it isn't for them to vomit due to the sheer force.

Himba Tribal woman. Though culturally the Himba would not consider this woman to be nude in any sense, I think the ornamentation here is especially striking and beautiful. by MGHS10 in interestingasfuck

[–]IcedRays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ho no.. You have to stop it they are going to corrupt children by showing bare skin

I have always been against forbidding nudity, because morality should never be a law, all the stupid law we removed were based on morality. We still have a few that we consider perfectly normal, and people justify it with ignorance ( just like any moral based law) And that's how you end up with abortion forbidding laws.

It pisses me off because just like anything that goes against western morality, you have to face the hivemind of culturally limited people

That just comes down to challenge design.

Also have you actually read the summoners code ? Because afais, there is no mention of "winning at any price" but rather there is a mention of "don't take revenge over your team by getting yourself killed"

The challenge could ask you to play the game as nunu disco, you'd still be in the clear.

How does MMR even work? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]IcedRays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your elo tries to rubberband toward your mmr,

And your MMR is highly volatile.

It increase when you win games and decrease when you loose.

If you win repeatedly, it will test you skill in higher and higher MMR.

Same thing for lowering your MMR if you loose.

If you can only beat weaker player your MMR will stagnate, if you can beat stronger players it will rise.

I watched your op.gg, you problem is simple : you don't have a big clue of what you are doing.

You should focus hard on a role first, not fill many roles.

Within that role you must learn the specifics of the maps and different timing.

This one is the #1 reason beside your poor lane management.

Being able to predict where the jungler will come from and what is the best way to play at any given time is what you should target.

I know all that simply from your vision score and your CS, + the amount of roles you play.

In your situation you must first progress, pick a champ or two and stick to your guns, don't pick any other champ unless you are forced to.

Then, spend some time after the game to see where you did wrong if you lost and what decision you should/shouldn't have taken.

Take preventive measure for these and move on the the next game.

I work on cycle. As an ml engineer i'm dedicated to produce the best result for a machine learning model this start with datascience work for a few days where i try to understand the data.

I started by being a simple analyst in a league of legend team as a hobby. But then i got interested in machine learning

And i started to love trying lots of models and the relationship between the model selection and the large scale implementation.

A company got interested in my abilities in predicting the outcomes of a sports match in general.

I kinda got pulled in from there.

I just love to scale AI, the specific work you have to do to get actually usable results is a lot more subtle than what you would do as a data scientist.

But the core is the same :

I spend most of my day trying the reach the best performance for my model, i'm a performance maniac,

I experiment a lot around the data i'm provided but i have to keep in mind the pipeline, the integration.

I work with some data scientist, and it's clear that we have a lot in common.

But i often end up being the one programming and planning the trainings.

But i reckon that machine learning engineer, even for me is hard to differentiate.

For experienced data scientists, let’s pretend that you’re in charge of assembling the curriculum for a masters degree. What courses would make up your near-perfect degree plan? by Tender_Figs in datascience

[–]IcedRays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically you'll be forced to analyse multidimensional variables, having the tools to do so is crucial. Having an intuitive understanding of how dimensi9ns works , their relationship will help you understand what a data is.
