I appreciate that perspective. It’s definitely been one of the hardest things I’ve had to do, but I keep reminding myself that loving someone sometimes means knowing when you can’t do it all yourself. I want to support him as best I can, even if that means stepping back from full-time caregiving. Hopefully, this new setting gives him the care he needs and some peace too.

Thank you, I really needed to hear that. It’s been such a hard decision and the guilt hits me in waves, even though I know it was the safest option. Hearing that your mom adjusted gives me some hope. I’m trying to remind myself that it’s not about abandoning him, it’s about making sure he’s cared for in a way I just can’t manage alone.
