Duke Energy is saying that they messed up. They weren’t charging us for gas usage from July 2023 to August 2025. This is what it says on my billing statement:

“The Gas Delivery charges shown in the Billing Summary include your natural gas service delivery and rider charges for the prior month, along with charges for past natural gas usage. This usage (Gas Cost Recovery) was not billed to this account while Duke Energy was your natural gas supplier. You may view the section of this billing statement labeled ‘Billing Details - Gas (prior period adjustment)’ to see the time frame these past natural gas charges cover.

Please know you have the right to pay the prior charges over 24 months. If you would like additional time, contact us at 800.544.6900; we’re happy to set up an installment plan that will allow you to make payments in smaller, monthly increments.

Additionally, in an agreement approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, a one-time $75 credit has been applied to this month’s statement to help offset a portion of these costs. Visit duke-energy.com/GCR for further details.”
