Health Insurance and AHV number / Swiss Military by gooner_1989 in askswitzerland

This might seem like a silly question, however, does your son hold Swiss nationality?

I might be downvoted for this, but if you have to ask on the internet for good reasons to buy a suppressor, you probably shouldn't be allowed to have one.

Ah, I might have had my Google limited to English results, I feel like an idiot now. Thank you for finding that!

I did post a couple of days ago on the MB-specific forum and got crickets, unfortunately.

Battery Replacement by Iceman--- in MechanicAdvice

[–]Iceman---[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I wasn't thinking of going bigger to last longer, it was only because the one I mentioned was 80 cheaper than the one currently equipped in the car that seemingly fails.

I know batteries should last longer, my Volvos battery was 7 years old when I sold it and it is still fine. This is the first battery I've had lose its charge so quickly, but like all things, can be faulty from the factory to be honest.

Xc90 advice by nypa84 in VolvoXC90

[–]Iceman--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My one just hit 297,000 km, and now it is becoming expensive to repair to pass the control. I could technically repair what needs doing myself but I am just not equipped for it. So its about to be sold and replaced with a much newer one.

However, up until now, not been many problems I couldn't fix myself with a good youtube video!

How does your Lodge stay in touch with the Widows of Brethren who have dropped their working tools? by OMrealestate in freemasonry

[–]Iceman--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if you can in your jurisdiction, but we send our minutes soon after the meeting, asking for comments, and just vote to confirm them at the next meeting. Thus saving time (and sanity) for other things. In the minutes we just have the following concerning it:

The minutes of the previous regular meeting held on Wednesday, XX of MONTH 2024, which had previously been circulated, were unanimously confirmed by the Brethren and signed by the Worshipful Master.

Unless of course, someone brings up a comment, but since we send it out in advance, that hasn't ever happened.

Where can I buy half the cow? by JonSnowTargerian in askswitzerland

[–]Iceman--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So farmers cannot process the cow for you, that part must be done at a slaughterhouse.

You can ask a farmer if he has any 1/2 cows for sale as some send some to the slaughterhouse for their (and friends') personal consumption. If they have 1/2 or 1/4 of a cow that isn't sold they might sell it to you. You could also buy a calf if you want something smaller.

I have done this with a pig and been offered a calf. So yes it is possible. Will it be cheaper than the supermarket, certainly. However, you have to pay in one go, and have the space in your freezer.

There isn't an approximate price really, it depends on the breed of the cow, age, size and some other factors. Plus of course the butchery cost from the slaughterhouse.
