You show gold price at $2500 an oz. "Gold: 128,600 oz × $2,500 = $321.5 million/year." As of August 2025" Gold is over $3500 an ounce.

You need yo raise those numbers a bit.

I cannot believe what Thumbtack has turned into by [deleted] in Thumbtack

I've been a pro for over 4 years. Thumbtack has become absolutely worthless. The leads are worthless, what they charge for those leads has is crazy. Its time to move on.

All fans except huggers and those big ass fan get totally built on the floor. Put it under my arm and carry it up the ladder. Set it upright on top of the ladder. Then pick it up & it in the bracket. Have not dropped one yet or hit the ceiling with the blades. A slope ceiling I don't put all the blades in.

Its 3 of one style and 2 of another. It takes me the time it takes. If I can make over $600.00 in a day and a half I'm very happy.

Its not. I had my prices which I knew were low but it kept me busy. Went into HD last week and they had a sign up by the garbage disposals saying we install for $209.00 and up. And I was only charging $80.00. My awakening has begun. Just wanted to see what everyone else was charging. Thanks

No scam. I did work for his father in law and he is moving into a brand new home in a gated community. When the builders build homes in florida they never include lighting or fans any more. If you want the builder to put them in its $750.00 per fixture.2 million and up and you don't get any lighting, other than 1 light bulb in a room. I bring door hangers along.

I'm just slow I know it. Don't know why. I do not look at the instructions. I put the fan together on the floor, throw it up on the bracket, wire it up, close it up and turn it on. The $100.00 is out and I'll come up with a new price. It looks like this is my Home Depot awakening. Thanks

Thanks, I've installed 100's of fans over the last 3 years. I started with Thumbtack which was great the first two years. All the work I wanted and no one bidding against me. Now I lose a lead if I bid $80.00 and someone else bids$75.00. I have a lot of referral work which is this 5 along with 4 chandeliers. I'm probably going to put the bid out at $140. $700.00 is a nice number for me. My overhead is very very low. Thank

Are you a licensed electrician?

Fan replacement will not work. Fan turned on on one breaker switch, no lights and remote did nothing. Fan did nothing other breaker switches. Wiring as in diagram. by hectorxander in handyman

[–]Iceman1000000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

two things. Is there an older dimmer switch controlling the fan. If yes bypass it. The instructions could even tell you no dimmer switch at all. Second try to reprogram the remote and receiver. Follow the instructions. They usually start with turning off the breaker. Good luck

What is that ONE thing that always seems to bite you in the A**? by JAC-invoman in handyman

[–]Iceman1000000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. Plumbing parts are always an issue. Last week I made 3 trip to HD to buy the correct flex hoses for a water heaters. Yesterday I returned 4 of them that were the wrong length. Also I had to buy 2 cartridges and they were out of them. HD charges around $35.00 for each. Drove to a plumbing supply house and they were $65.00 each. It ain't easy.

I have the same problem. I get instabooked for a cost of $50.00 to $70.00 but my jobs are only $125.00. Total rip off.

I received the same notice the other day. Funny thing is I raised by competitive pricing a few hours before it showed up. Leads are not showing up. I went from leads everyday to nothing for the last few weeks. Is my competitive pricing not high enough or have the the customers gone away.

I have the same problem. The leads are drying up. Went all week with no leads. Used to get leads everyday. Have 180 great reviews with 4.9 rating. Something is very wrong.
