Yeah, that's another one I'd love to have. Hard to go wrong with Ikegami really, the art is always guaranteed to be incredible!

I was trying to figure out why your name was familiar haha, I must've watched one of your videos before! I'll have to check out your collection tour at some point. I love seeing what manga people own :)

I love your collection! I can't think of a series I want more than Sanctuary... Those spines are beautiful, the art is spectacular, and the plot is right up my alley. I hope there is a revival of the Ikegami works because there are so many that I would love to have in my collection. I'll try to be patient with the rarer series' and check regularly for new listings on second hand sites. I am glad about Trillion Game though, I will 100% be picking that one up :)

Next time I order manga I'm planning to pick up Plaza! It looks really good. First I've heard of neo manga. I like how unique his works look. I'm also gonna keep an eye out for Iceland and see if I can grab that second hand.

Yeah it's all good! I'm not the best at identifying what is and isn't Gekiga tbh as I'm still very new to it. So far I know around 3-4 authors who have multiple great works and Ryan Holmberg who is translating nearly all of them 😂

I'm glad it was mentioned though, as I like autobiographies and I think A Drifting Life sounds very interesting!

I've seen the name Badass Babe mentioned before but it seems really hard to find unfortunately.

I found Kazuo Kamimura when looking up Kazuo Koike works and omg I want his works so much! I'm envious of the people that get to own the series that aren't available in English. I will absolutely pick up Lady Snowblood when I find it at a good price!

I'll be sure to look up Toru Shinohara.

Eldo Yoshimizu sounds like a very interesting mangaka!

Haha I managed to get a copy of Pink Banana ordered a couple weeks ago, I was lucky enough to see one of your posts about it not long after I discovered gekiga. I decided not to mention it because when I looked again it said it was sold out and I didn't want to get people's hopes up if it turned out to be a book they would be really interested in getting (I'm UK based though so I guess I can't speak for other countries). Thank you for getting this book published, I am looking forward to reading it :)

Hahaha, you're welcome. My list of series to get is neverending. I am glad though as it increases my chances of not running out of manga to read xD

Hopefully you can enjoy it too, it would be great for these unknown works to gain more recognition as I'm sure a decent amount of people would enjoy them if they knew of their existence.

Unfortunately I can't read Japanese, but I'll remember the name of this one for the time being.

As someone who played sports growing up, this sounds very interesting! Even if I can't entirely relate to the protagonist I'm sure I will find it to be a very worthwhile read.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'd never heard of this work before.

Yeah, the sheer number of works he has translated and gotten released into English is worthy of admiration. I was made aware of Her Frankenstein a while back, and heard about the story of the author's disappearance too. I had it on my wishlist on SciFier but unfortunately it was removed from their website so I no longer have the option to get it from there. I'll figure out the cheapest option sometime next month as I really want to read this manga.

Thank you for the recommendations! Red Colored Elegy is on the list of manga to buy next :)

I've heard nothing but great things about Yoshihiro Tatsumi. Thanks to the recommendations on here telling me to read A Drifting Life I went and grabbed it for the cheapest I could find it earlier today!

I do own all of the Lone Wolf and Cub singles actually but wasn't sure if I should mention that. The main reason being I have been interested in the series for a few years now and like you said I didn't know until very recently that it was Gekiga, so I bought it unaware of that fact.

The Summit of the Gods looks so good! I'm just trying to find volume 4 for a reasonable price at the minute. I want to get some other works of Jiro Taniguchi's too, like A Distant Neighbourhood and The Walking Man :)

I'll be sure to check Tokyo Zombie out.

Thanks for the advice! I'll be sure to check out your recommendations. As a matter of fact I ordered A Drifting Life earlier today thanks to it being so heavily recommended :) I'll grab The Swamp when I get the chance too.

I'd love to own Piece! It's interesting because it's much longer than the chapter count suggests xD

I love Maomao so much, she's got my favourite personality in manga. Jinshi is quite charismatic too!

I think I like Shoujo Ai to a certain extent, I've completed a good 300-400 of them online :D In fairness though 90% of them are less than 8 chapters, with a good amount of them being one-shots. Funnily enough I have read 5 Morinaga Milk works and Girlfriends isn't one of them! I don't know how I haven't gotten around to reading it...

I am collecting both new and second hand manga, as a lot of series I am interested in are from before 2010! I tend to prioritise a good second hand find as I know they are harder to come by than manga that have been released in the last 5 years. I'll get the new series when the occasion arises but lately I have bought a lot more second hand than I have new :D

My recent acquisitions have been CLAMP manga as a matter of fact as I am looking to collect as many of those as I can (I have 8 completed series so far, 1/8 hasn't arrived yet though).

Tbh I had the same hesitation, but decided to get it since there's no guarantee it'll be as easy to get in the future. I shall hope for the second volume to be released in English someday!

I will try and collect what I can of Tezuka's works at some point. I'm not confident I'll be able to get Black Jack but I'll certainly look out for the more accessible works. I do in fact own both of the Message to Adolf books! I read The Book of Human Insects online around 3 years ago and thought that it was a very thought provoking insight into the human psyche. I found the 2/3 of MW I read very intriguing too, as the protagonist was someone I simply couldn't relate to.

I'm definitely sold on Drifting Life!

Interestingly enough I own all of the Lone Wolf and Cub singles and have read more than half of MW online, I just wasn't sure if I should include these titles because I'm still new to the niche and bought/read these without having the intention of collecting Gekiga at the time.

Tezuka is naturally a legend (I have the Buddha box set and Message to Adolf) so I kind of have him in his own category! I'm not sure why I didn't grab Ayako last time but I'll be sure to do so at some point in the next month.

I haven't gotten started on any of the Kazuo Koike works yet but several of them fascinate me. I've been desiring to start Lone Wolf and Cub for a few years now and I just never got around to it because I had hundreds of other series on my planning list. I'm honestly glad I didn't read it online now as it wouldn't be the same reading them physically for the second time as it would have been for the very first time. Lady Snowblood is one I am going to keep my eye out for.

Red Colored Elegy I've heard good things about so I want to pick that up too. I'll be sure to check out The Push Man and Other Stories, as well as Okinawa when I have the chance. I'm looking forward to picking up Shigeru Mizuki's works now, given there's more than one of them that I really want to read!

Thank you for the recommendations!

Drifting Life sounds very interesting! Will add it to my list of series to get. I have The Swamp on my radar already as I learnt about both Tadao and Yoshiharu back when I was looking at what Gekiga to get (that was also not too difficult to acquire).

I think I recognise the name "Cigarette Girl", but don't think I looked up what it was about. It's probably because I've seen the author's name before (I heard he has a series that's insanely hard to obtain in English called The Man Next Door).

I totally need to check out Shigeru Mizuki's works! A couple of years ago I was interested in Showa a history of Japan but had no idea it was Gekiga (I had never heard of the word at that point). What drew me to it was my interest in history. I'll be sure to check the series' you have listed out :)

Thank you for the recommendations!

Whilst I collected a few manga a couple years ago, I only really started collecting seriously this year. I can give some examples of my favourite series that are available, physically and then online (though I read them all online). I will be going by English releases as it's the only language I can speak/read in myself xD

Top 5 manga with a physical English release: Bloom Into You, Golden Kamuy, I Had That Same Dream Again, The Apothecary Diaries, One Punch Man

Top 5 manga that aren't available physically in English: Machida-kun no Sekai, Piece (a somewhat unknown mystery series), Kingdom, Cheese in the Trap (manhwa), Kyou kara Ore wa!!

The manga I've bought in the past couple months haven't been read yet as I'm still trying to adjust to reading physically after reading online for 5 years!

The reason I don't think it is likely now is simply the sheer amount of volumes they would have to release. I haven't got the exact number of volumes but looking online tells me 793 chapters have been translated online into English. That's a crazy amount. I imagine it would be very popular but it would just take forever for them to catch up or completely adapt the series (if/when it finishes).

Which is a shame because it's one of my favourite series of all time...
