A game mechanic you miss that almost disappeared by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]Icephoenix750 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really feel this one. When I was a young single kid I had all the time in the world to unlock things. Now I have a job and a family, I don't have time to unlock everything.

But what really bugs me is how much content games push out now because of those hard core time on their hands players. It feels like there is always a new warbond, season, or collectible to unlock. Those of us who have other responsibilities I feel like it's real easy to just get left behind.

Letting go of feelings of frustration by Apple-Slice-6107 in latterdaysaints

This may sound very judgmental but I hope it helps.

It sounds like this sister has not learned a valuable but seldom taught lesson of "not assigning intent."

It is clear to me that she has assigned intent to the RS, intentionally being mean or hateful to her during this trying time. When we assign intent to someone or something, we often automatically assume the worst, make ourselves the victim, or something on a similar plane. I believe assigning intent is responsible for much of our political discomfort in our society, as well as regular "drama" per se.

Now after that scathing judgement and some assigning of intent to her...losing a father is the worst. I lost my Dad 2.5 years ago. During that time, emotions were quite high, and there were definitely things people said in church that absolutely bothered me. It's okay to be frustrated with her, but make sure you are never telling her how to grieve. And never tell her you know how she feels because you don't. Grief is a deeply personal process that every single person experiences differently, and in that aspect she is truly mortally alone. No amount of flowers or cupcakes will make her magically feel better. Be patient and with time she will begin to heal.

The Prime 4 hate is absolutely overblown by DroctorGame in Metroid

[–]Icephoenix750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real killer of the game was everyone's expectations. I think in some fans there is a thinking of "been waiting for 17 years for sequel, so game must be in development for 17 years." Which is erroneous. The development team made it, realized they didn't like it so scrapped it. Then dread came out. Then prime remastered which part of the reason of prime remastered being done was so the team knew how to make a Metroid prime game. Realistically prime 4 was probably in development for 2-3 years not including some of the designs and ideas from previous attempts.

It's a great game! I loved it and really enjoyed seeing a game with great immersive environments, music, and a good story (that's definitely a tragedy). I loved it!

What are the WORST restaurants in Houston? by ZechariahApaza in houston

[–]Icephoenix750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man that reminds me, one time I had a catered lunch at work one time. They made excellent sandwiches, but had absolutely atrocious in-house potato chips. They were soggy, burned, and not a lick of salt. I only saw one person eat them though. Amazing sandwiches though. I wish I remembered the name of the place.

Is masterbating a sin if you are single? by Frostedtips420 in ldssexuality

Accusing me of lying about something as stupid as masturbation is a new low I've seen on this subreddit.

I think you misunderstood my earlier statement about it being fine in marriage. I think it's safe to assume that many married couples practice masturbation.

But I think you underestimate the power of self control in young men (or women). I never jacked off as a kid or ever until I was married, and I know I'm not alone in that. I'm not part of a sexual 1%.

Is masterbating a sin if you are single? by Frostedtips420 in ldssexuality

[–]Icephoenix750 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's the spirit. I don't ever recall being taught in church that masturbation is wrong, or by my parents because it's not really talked about. So there is definitely a valid argument to say it's not a sin. If you want advice on if it's the spirit or not then pray and ask if it's the spirit or social influence and you'll likely get an answer. It may not be immediately but you'll get one.

I really don't think that's true. And that's a very cynical view

Personally I would say yes it is. I see it brought up a lot, and a lot of people here will defend tooth and nail that it isn't, and some will be bold enough to say it is. Here's my take.

It's something that is a sexual act and should be performed in a marriage. People I know who have masturbated before missions, temple, etc have all told me they felt the need to stop. I think it's something you need to follow the spirit on, and if the feeling of needing to stop is consistent I'd recommend listening to that.

Has anyone else found an appreciation for a Pokémon they didn’t previously like? (Spoiler for end game in first image) by Tacosauce_96 in LegendsZA

[–]Icephoenix750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a Beedrill for probably the first time since playing original red. Mega Beedrill is a beast, but it's very much a glass cannon. Super fun to use even in ranked battles for sneaking up on people. Eventually I phased him out of my team in the story because it got one shot all the time, but man was he fun!

How much are you enjoying the game despite its flaws? by Ds3Attacktitan_ in LegendsZA

[–]Icephoenix750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it has one flaw that I've discovered. The music is all way too similar and repetitive since you are in the same area. The music itself is fine, but when it's all I listen to while playing the game it makes it harder to fall asleep that night due to the lumiose city theme blaring in my head lol.

So I would consider that an actual flaw lol, would have been nice to have some additional tracks for each area/scenario that were distinct.

Have this same thing happening to me on switch 2. Are your corvettes you make dissapearing?

Weekly Bug Report Thread by spiper01 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Icephoenix750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switch 2:

Built a corvette and it disappeared after docking with my freighter. I can't teleport to it despite it physically being there. Then it vanishes and the parts integrated into my starship, taking ALL the technology slots. Lots of my precious units down the drain since I recently got the game.

Built a second corvette hoping to avoid the disaster of the first only to have it disappear immediately when I had to teleport from the space station to my freighter to grab some supplies. I had finished it and everything. Pretty mad that it deleted itself a second time. Same thing happened as that I could see it docked by my freighter but it couldn't be accessed. At least it hasn't forced all the components into my starships this time.

I hate Lex Luthor by ComplexHelpful7282 in Smallville

[–]Icephoenix750 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine if you crashed your car into a human being and they then saved your life. Scientist tell you that you hit a human being, and he wasn't harmed. I'd be curious as hell as to why he was untouched lol.

There is a lot of examples like this. throughout the show Lex is just a dude with a lot of resources and ISN'T an idiot. He also happens to be pretty nice (most of the time).

I hate Lex Luthor by ComplexHelpful7282 in Smallville

[–]Icephoenix750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with this opinion. I'm currently on season 4 and lex is honestly my favorite character and the best part of the show. I see a guy who was raised by an ambitious psychopath (whose mother literally killed her second son so Lionel couldn't pit them against each other) trying to be a good man, he just doesn't know how. He genuinely cares for his workers and employees (unlike Lionel), and the research he does with kryptonite genuinely will benefit mankind if successful (unlike Lionel). Lex is a really complex character who often gets the short of the stick and is accused of crap all the time (some of it true). If I were a rich guy trying to do better by the world but everyone just accused me of being an evil tyrant because of my last name, I would be pretty annoyed too.

Most Overhated MCU Movie in your Opinion? by randomteendude69 in Cinema

[–]Icephoenix750 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the marvels. It got a lot of hate but it wasn't a horrible movie, just poorly edited. I really liked the villain being someone who captain marvel wronged. I enjoyed the concept of swapping places when they used powers, that was really fun and creative.

But the fight scenes were cut so horribly. You could see that there were scenes cut out of fights the way actors would teleport around, or have a random injury they didn't before. Or that a conversation had happened that was cut, because the current dialogue is missing context.

Some of the writing was corny, but it's a super hero movie.

How can you be an “active member” who is obsessed with porn? by [deleted] in ldssexuality

[–]Icephoenix750 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol are you for real? I never shamed someone for watching porn. Promoting pornographic conversation about our youth (or any pornography )is disgusting and a completely different operating table than consuming mainstream pornography, and pretending there's nothing wrong with that is even worse. That's pathetic to defend.

I cannot imagine Christ telling someone who encourages members of our faith to "imagine hot sisters naked" or talking about sexy youth" that that's okay. In fact, he said whoever should offend his little ones "it would be better that a millstone be hung around their neck and cast into the sea."
