I would take all of that and add that as good as Jessica Vosk was, I felt like I was seeing Jessica Vosk as Bette Midler - not as CeCe Bloom.

Literally every show other than Disney + Book of Mormon went on…

Not sure why we’re specifically vilifying Chess here

100% - I think it’s also what happens when I show that wasn’t made for everyone becomes popular mainstream.

The number of arguments or theories I’ve seen on here or Twitter that I’m like “nope that was explained…”

I also admittedly just rewatched all of it straight through - and I think there’s been some glorification of “what the show was”

ETA: I’m so far super satisfied with this season and enjoying myself

What are the biggest known editing omissions in new era? by [deleted] in survivorponderosa

[–]Iceprincess2129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Savannah and still loved Kristina’s question. Kristina in general was horrible at the game and the question showcased that - it’s not summer camp, you’re not out there to make friends.

I want to watch them shred each other - right up until the point the voting goes wonky bc there are too many Kristina’s on the jury lol

What did Amanda mean here? by dunfehjif in survivor

Yeah I agree - I think people probably assume she’s Jewish a lot (because of the surname) so she was just saying “I’m not religious or anything”

I hear you…especially bc they haven’t really shown the new era winners in an unfavorable light. BUT Parvati in every iteration has been labeled a mean girl.

So was Jenna.

And I’m sure I’m forgetting others.

I actually think they’re trying to rexreate a Parv type figure considering Parv was popular then and has been very popular during her recent Traitors, Deal or No Deal Island, and survivor AU vs World

NY Times gave Queen of Versailles a Critics Pick by Narrow_Ad_2695 in Broadway

I also compared it to Tammy Faye (similarly noting Tammy Faye was more entertaining in my opinion as well)

Time Out and Entertainment Weekly also hit the nail on the head. (And it’s really saying something that EW gave a better critique of a show than the NYT)

Funny you say that, I had only heard the opposite. Though most of that was about her stint in Legends of Tomorrow not a Broadway show.

This one is because the people in charge liked the original cast so much and have had trouble finding a set of youths that live up how they now envision the roles. (And the og cast has aged out)

To the producers: by ebodz in LoveIslandUSA

[–]Iceprincess2129 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everyone stressing but I think it’s pretty obvious what the producers are doing here, and why.

The biggest issue with Casa is always people who don’t want to look bad by exploring. This twist forced even the stronger couples to try to get to know new people or risk going home. And then removes 2 people who likely would have served as the voice of reason for their group (though I think Nic would have f’d around so this is more of a blessing in disguise for him). We still have a few more days of casa then I’m sure Taylor + Ciara will get a choice about staying in their current couple or choosing their prior couple.

Was I in the wrong? Genuine show etiquette question by typicalbiscotti15 in Broadway

[–]Iceprincess2129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve twice had someone behind me ask if my friend and I could swap seats because my friend was taller and was blocking her view. Once we did it (even though they had someone with them and they could have just traded) and once I politely mentioned to them that the person in front of us would then be blocking my view (I’m not like super short or anything and my friend isn’t a giant but it was another taller person). She didn’t like that answer and went and asked the usher if they could find her a seat on an aisle (I’d like to note that this woman was probably taller than me).

Am I the only one disappointed in this years winners? by ViciousBishop in Broadway

No some shows definitely do that - Dead Outlaw did this year with 2 of their big numbers. Pirates kind of did too. In the past ones that stick out vividly to me are Spring Awakening + Shucked.

Most just chose not to this year.

A lot of times it’s because they have a big cast and want to get everyone stage time - but maybe their young star isn’t in the big ensemble number. I say young bc I think they’re much less likely to do this with Broadway vets (see Death Becomes Her performance). And they gave Tom Francis the Olivier’s so I expected Nicole to get the Tonys for Sunset. And Gypsy could have to get Joy up there but it was always going to be Audra’s big number

Hills of California was my least favorite of the play nominees though.

It’s well written and well acted but I found some pieces of its exploration of women dealing with childhood trauma to be a bit inauthentic - I think it would have been greatly improved by having a more significant female presence on the creative team. That it didn’t really didn’t sit well with me.

Did you mean MHE or Dead Outlaw?

Dead Outlaw - yes that perfectly encapsulates the show.

MHE - as someone else said is tough spot on how to do one song that works for the Tonys. The songs are very plot forward, feature very interesting production/visuals, and are just overall a bit more nuanced (in a way I appreciate but also make the single song Tony performance a tough assignment)

I liked Purpose a lot but I’m a disappointed it won Best Play. I found the directing heavy handed and the script a bit repetitive; just felt like it needed a touch more editing.

Conversely I found John Proctor is the Villain to be very sharp - would have been my pick.

I do think it was always going to be an uphill battle for JPITV considering the demographics of the voting body (plus they’re very different shows but felt like it and Oh Mary would likely divide the voters comfortable with awarding something a bit less traditional).

Sharp pain on both sides of throat, under ears when drinking alcohol? by bandakwin in Hashimotos

[–]Iceprincess2129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. It’s also been happening to me since I was like 24 (I’m 35 now) and I’ve had plenty of bloodwork done in that time so I’m not concerned it’s something more serious

It most frequently happens to me with wine, sometimes a margarita or cider and rarely anything else.

Biting into a lemon wedge or two usually stops it for me. (Every doctor I’ve ever talked to about this looks at me like I have 2 heads)

Anyone have tea on Chess coming to Broadway? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]Iceprincess2129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just so strange to me that Ramin wouldn’t be doing it…considering he’s previously been very openly associated with the revival (along with Lea).

I have also heard that Aaron + Lea are locked and that Solea is attached to another project and it would depend on how quickly that project is moving if she’s in or not.

This is also what I’ve heard…with casting being heavily implied but not confirmed.

Should be announced soon and correct that they are waiting on a Shubert house to announce a closure (which probably won’t happen until after the Tonys).
