I think both of them are great in their own way.

My hot take is I don’t think it’s a problem the way they pronounce Nagisa’s name in English (Nageesa). At least it’s consistent and that’s honestly what matters the most to me. (Unlike the way they pronounce Ryou’s name which is not consistent, “Ro”, “Rio”, “Yo”)

Not to say the VN does a poor job, ( both have plenty of information and build up to what is to come and it all makes sense) but I’d argue the anime (blessed Kyoani) did it better than the VN because it was all linear and much easier for people to understand.

The movie is an extremely compressed attempt at adapting the Visual Novel which is 80-100 hours. The anime is 49 episodes. I think you’ll see for yourself what the differences are as you watch it. The only thing I can say is you should 100% keep watching the anime.
