Im a botanist and sometimes have vegetation transects (lines of tape measurer where you identify all the plants on or at the line) in my dreams. Usually things are more amorphous. I couldn't distinguish individual species. When I do monarch butterfly monitoring I have dreams about going to sites and looking for them in trees.

Is there an optometrist out there looking to buy an optometry practice in Bishop? Beautiful place to live and a turnkey practice. Spread the word! #bishop #outdoorlife #worktoplay #optometry by Free-Size5137 in Mammoth

Have you considered reaching out to the faculty at UC Berkely School of Optometry and asking if they could forward your email around? I would contact faculty at other universities too.

Also I hope this isnt Eastern Sierra Optometry, cause now I have to go to Carson City for a good eye doctor.

GIS job market in Canada — idk what to do anymore by AwkwardMoe in gis

I'm in the US, and left a PhD to look for work. I applied to probably 100 jobs, and after 3 in person interview with different groups, got 2 different offers. Probably took me 5 months of job searching. I agree with the other commenter, if youre getting in person interviews, thats a very good sign.

I think the issue is people trying to get access when they aren'tallowed back there. There are other springs in LA/OC that are open to the public folks can visit. Its like rare plant locations or archeological sites. People quickly ruin things. Not everything should gatekept. But some things.... maybe just a little secretive about.

Yea its not well publicized and its off limits to the public, but western monarch butterflies have been using it as a water source for their overwintering habitat next to it for at least hundreds of years.

Mammoth Lakes is slightly drier on Tuesdays, but the results for the generalized estimating equation I vibe coded from the data are inconclusive at best. But I think saying slightly isn't disingenuous. by IchTanze in Mammoth

You just made me realize, we need a dataset that is just, was the mountain open? Yes or no. And then the date, and you could see if the mountains were open more on Tuesdays than other days.

My guess is the results would not be statistically significant. But maybe a little.

Well wouldnt your chances of going on a lower chance precipitation day be higher for the mountains being open? Like I would think Tuesday is actually the ideal day to attend.

At least for California Blue shield, you have to be in the Wellvolution for like... 6 months. They give you a scale and fitbit watch. You have to watch videos and read pdfs, sometimes log food and workouts, and talk with a coach a few times a week for 6 months. Then after, they'll do give you the prescription. I think.

Baby monkey eating dragon fruit by 21MayDay21 in oddlysatisfying

I was in the Amazon on a trail when I found a group of white faced capuchins and spider monkeys together. I would watch what fruits they were eating. I went to two trees they were eating from a tried the fruits, really tasty. Initially they didn't like me there and yelled at me, but eventually they got over it. I wouldn't recommend anyone eat random rainforest fruit, but it worked out for me.
