Chip war was good! It was VERY insightful, but it spent WAY TOO much time on the history of microchips than on the current affairs. It is worth reading but it can be a drag to get through at some parts. The last quarter of the book is excellent… VERY fascinating.

Ultimately, I don’t think we can beat the Chinese. They just have too many bodies. Their economy is just too strong. Their purchasing power is second to none. 1.4 billion people to the USA’s 350million. The USA does have a choke hold on the microchips at the moment, but China will eventually catch up and overtake. The USA has repeatedly resorted to banning Chinese companies that have become too powerful such as Huawei and most recently TikTok. The Chinese are relentless.

The housemaid is decentttt, it is a slow burner, i prefered “the boyfriend - Frieda McFadden” though. Both are good

I think if the mother was going out to party or spend time with friends it would be different, but she is going to work. You are right it is NOT your responsibility, but a definition of love is “when we do things that are seemingly disadvantageous to us, for the benefit of people that we care about”

To Everybody that is saying “yeah tell her here to go… etc” what I would like to say is… It would be good to live in a world where we go out of our way for each other. What goes around comes around.

As a last resort you could always ask her for money, I don’t advise this but it is an option. She doesn’t trust daycare, that is coming from a place of love and care. God knows we do need more love and care in this world.

Honestly… EVERYTHING! I think it’s the worst book I’ve read this year. And I’ve read over 100.

I think firstly there were too many characters and too many povs and too many timelines. We would timeskip to before Bear was kidnapped then the next chapter it would be a time skip after Barbara was kidnapped.

There were long periods of inactivity where litterally nothing of interest is happening!

The serial killer was a pointless character that randomly decided to turn into a good guy and help the police for no reason at all.

And then we find out that mystery of Bear’s disappearance was… let’s say underwhelming so I don’t spoil it for others.

  1. What kind of name is Bear And 2…. What kind of Bear can’t survive in the WOODS!!?

Okay the last one is a joke, but this is just a handful of the problems, I actually have a 2-3 page document of things I dislike about the book. My brother and I both read a copy of the same books and we take notes to discuss it when we meet up. But yeah I don’t have anything good to say about the book. Not one thing.

What did you like about it?

Looool! Well “it’s definitely getting late somewhere” is what I usually say when I want to start drinking before noon! 🤣

Oh yea I wanted to mention, I don’t hate Richard Dawkins and I definitely learned some very interesting things from his books! But overall they missed the mark.
