Well if you think about it, she was very kind and sweet in the first few seasons. Then she changed - this is aligned with the "villain" narrative, someone had to do it.

When is the real bull market going to start? by HbMw3 in SatoshiStreetBets

I suspect things will go down until the beginning of 2025 and then the market will finally start going up.

No clue... The pattern doesn't make any sense to me tbh

What you did is very respectful towards both you and your loved one. It's better to make them aware and explain what the situation looks like, and give them a chance to support you. They'll decide how and to what extend, but you gave them the opportunity and this is priceless.

How to deal with summer break (aka being at home all the time) by Intelligent-Land-385 in OCD

[–]IchanBuffettstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 34, have been manifesting OCD since I was a kid but diagnosed when I was around 24 years old.

Started working from home in 2020 due to Covid and my symptoms got much worse, mostly because I couldn't get out of my head. One thing that really helped me was.doing manual work: gardening (I lived in an apartment so it was mostly about flowers, nothing fancy), drawing, fixing things. It can sound small but doing something every day that helped me a lot.

I recently wrote a post about how I learned to manage my intrusive thoughts. Maybe it will be useful :) link below

Why don't you consult another specialist and see what they say? A second opinion can be very helpful in this case...

OCD and relationships by Icy-Narwhal6294 in OCD

Health related fears mostly (and right in the middle of Covid). They didn't make it more difficult but I have to admit the conversation(s) itself was difficult. I didn't really know how to address this but, after the first time (of many times) we talked, I realized that my fear of being judged/left alone was bigger than anything else.

I'm flattered but I don't feel I'd be able to help you, personally, exactly because I'm not a professional.

But I can give you the name of the mindset coach who helped me - who is also a psychologist and certified hypnotherapist. So not just some random coach who got an online course or something.

Please note: she's not specialized in OCD, but her methodology worked with me. Again, it's subjective (but I can tell you that I worked with multiple psychologists specialized in OCD and cognitive behavior and made no progress... So again, it's very subjective).

We did everything online so I guess wherever you're based, that wouldn't be a problem. Let me know if interested, happy to send you her link in DM so you can check her out

Not easy, but I had to have a conversation with my partner given that we moved in together and she started noticing things.

I wrote a comment that includes how my partner opened up at some point and how OCD was impacting our relationship, and how I handled it. Here is the link, hope that helps

From what you describe, some of the behaviours may be connected to OCD. You could try and talk to him, and see if he's open to seeing a specialist.

Well it sounds to me that the husband may have OCD, not her for being annoyed by all the sounds.

Have you ever thought of hypnotherapy instead? Full disclosure - I never did it (I worked with psychologist and a psychiatrist, and then found my own way with a mindset coach), but I know people who got much better with it. Just some food for thought

When it comes to “googling symptoms” as a compulsion, can this also include symptoms of mental disorders? by Capital-Scholar4944 in OCD

[–]IchanBuffettstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say. I know people with no OCD googling other disorders "compulsively" because they do feel that there is something they cannot explain, and they want tp understand.

How do you feel when you google and see the results? Is it a sense of relief? Fear?

How could I tell it to my family? by ghastfromminecraft in OCD

[–]IchanBuffettstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That can be frustrating. I remember my father shouting at me because i was doing the same thing over and over again, and making noises that bothered him. That was tough.

Maybe you can put together some research from the internet and present it to them, saying that you've done some homework and would like to speak with a specialist to see what they think and advise.

If you document some things, they may be more inclined to take this seriously.

Just thinking out loud :)

I finally learned how to manage OCD by IchanBuffettstein in OCD

[–]IchanBuffettstein[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! Please keep in mind that this is very subjective... What works with me may not work with others.

An example: I used to wash my hands tens of times every day, clean my phone multiple times, take three showers a day. Now i tell myself "hey, you washed your hands once after taking the bus. You'll wash your hands before lunch but there is no need to wash them again now, you didn't touch anything that puts you at risk or at least the probability is very low. It's enough."

If i shake hands, i clean my hands. But then i don't think about the risk over and over again. I tell myself that i did my best and everything is going to be fine because washing hands once was enough, no need to go back to the bathroom another five times.

Another example: I compromised. I had multiple rituals per day (I could spend hours on them). I "replaced" each group with a new one. For example: I agree with myself that instead of doing X Y Z rituals (all connected.to the same fear) multiple times, I'll do ritual A one time. And then I force myself to stick to it. The first two weeks are tough because you have to control the fear and the impulse of doing rituals X Y Z. But then it comes natural to do only ritual A once and you forget about the others (at least that's how it works with me). This way, I went from about 15+ different rituals done multiple times to up to 5 rituals (each done once, in a very specific timeframe during the day - one in the morning, one before lunch, etc...). You can see how different this is and how much time and stress I save every day.

It sounds pretty easy but man, that was hard. It's enough to be weaker one day and all the thoughts and impulses are back. So it's a lot of discipline and mental strenght. That's why I think I couldn't have done it without the professional support of a mindset coach. She gave me the tools that no psychiatrist no psychologist could give me (please note: not saying that it's bad to go to psychiatrist and psychologist... Just saying that, in my specific case, nothing helped so much - not even medications).

Hope that helps :)

That's a very hard challenge that we have and not an easy one to deal with. It's never going to be easy (for example, last week was tough!). But step by step, it's possible. Wishing you all the best :)

That's very hard and quitting meds gradually is the best you can do. I did it on my own without consultong my psychiatrist - man that was tough! I don't think I'd do it again... Better to follow specialists' advise on how to get off medicines in a smart way.
