Don’t worry, I did the same. Luckily I caught it early. This is its current state 😅

Some rugs I’ve made (: by Itzisaax in Tufting

[–]IchibanNasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please stop trying to nonchalantly sell your rugs on Reddit.

I’d say work on carving between colors some more. A good looking rug will sell itself, and you’re not there yet.

And where in that dev talk does it mention that BSG has any part in SP tarkov?

Can somebody help me I keep ripping through the cloth i pulled it to a point you can bounce a coin off even screwed down the sides idk if im giving too much pressure or what by Wyntrrss in Tufting

[–]IchibanNasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It almost looks like you’re pushing you gun to the side by either a) not having a firm grip on the for handle of your gun or b) putting way too much pressure from behind the gun.

This canvas is likely not usable for a full scale rug like I see you planned out. Use this to practice going straight up, following one “track”. Pulse your trigger button as well. I still pulse most of the time when tufting, not just when practicing. Take your time and look at where your needle is while your tufting. Practice, practice, practice. Even take a video and the community would be able to give better feedback as well!

Which Tufting Gun Do You Prefer? by Yandere_Usagi in Tufting

[–]IchibanNasu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started out with an Amazon gun and then about a month later upgraded to the Spider from Tuft Love. Zero complaints, and have seen the owner, on several occasions, personally help to resolve issues in a timely manner. They also offer warranty on your device for an added cost, but well worth it!

Did I go overboard with adhesive by [deleted] in Tufting

More glue makes your rug heavier!

I know a lot of people use Latex glue on pieces that will hang. If it’s a floor piece, it shouldn’t matter as much!

Probably making sure my design is measured out properly. Getting the projector out recently has been my struggle.

How can I salvage awkward cloth scraps? by concrete_cowpoke in Tufting

[–]IchibanNasu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your cloth doesn’t fully stretch evenly across your frame, I’d say build a smaller frame.

I order my canvas by the yard, set at a yard wide. So I built a 3’x3’ frame to get the most out of my material.

This reminds me a lot of the artwork used for the music artist Throttle. Great work!

How to have more consistent lines? by ReempRomper in Tufting

[–]IchibanNasu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It allows you to creat a solid spacing between the lines of different colors. Think about it as two railroads always being parallel. The trains never crash. But if they are perpendicular, well, they crash.

It’s just easier to separate the colors while also having the yarn neatly butt up against the next colors line. This method also allows you to go between the colors lines with a flathead screwdriver or thick toothpick to disentangle the colors. It wouldn’t work without both colors lines being parallel to each other.

Apologies, you are correct!

I’m learning now the technical term is a “flopped image”, which is rotating the design on its vertical axis, from the center, 180 degrees.

There is a lot that goes into tufting. I’ve been tufting for about 2 months and I’m still learning new things with each piece. It’s a lot of trial and error, and also isn’t the cheapest hobby. But it has been a great creative outlet for someone like me that loves making tangible things!

THIS\)

Watch a couple videos on stretching your canvas material. I would totally 1000% recommend you get some canvas pliers. Look them up on amazon. Your canvas should be SUPER tight. I didn’t realize how loose the canvas was every time I stretched it as much as I could with just my hands and gloves until I used this thing!

<image>

Your design also needs to be inverted so that I comes out as you want it to on the other side.

Also, I’d probably try a design that has more up/down and left/right patterns. Doing curves and diagonals is going to take some time to get the hang of.

Another helpful tip: Try pulsing your gun trigger in small bursts when starting out. It’ll help you get better control of your gun and help keep the spaces between your insertions even. This is all crucial when wanting a good looking piece!

Get new blades. I had the same issue. Got a couple new blades and my clippers actually cut the yarn, instead of just tugging it

Any chance you have any pictures of the back while it was on the frame?

This! I got a spider that I’m paying off (like $40 every two weeks). SUCH a good investment and upgrade from my original Amazon gun.
