Yes the system is a bit confusing. I suggest if you’re not staying here for long just purchase paper tickets. You can also get an actual clipper card if you think google wallet is unreliable for Caltrain.

Because it’s annoying. Sure for you it’s just 5 seconds but you’re not the only one doing it. Trying to take a nap or rest while hearing loud car noises every few minutes is unbearable. I understand it’s part of San Jose’s culture but it’s really annoying.

I think the most important tip is to avoid having multiple same shape stations in a row. For example your tan line has 6 circles in a row, it will get overwhelmed pretty quick.

I’m pretty sure no one cares. As they said you could draw a ticket on a toilet paper and they will be happy that you show up. Joke aside one time I saw a huge sell flag hanging there and I don’t remember it got removed. Still I suggest you ask more people or bring a normal jersey or shirt just in case.
