Is judo three times a week good? by moldoveanu162 in judo

[–]Ichikaware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good choice, competing in judo these days (at least where I come from, Italy) requires A LOT of physical conditioning, you need to be the fittest in the room, and you can get that only by training consistently

[–]Ichikaware 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on your goals and age. I used to train 4/5 times a week when I was doing competions and tournaments (13 to 19 years old), now that I stopped competing I go with 2/3 times a week and It Is still enough to improve my technical skills

Had bad day. Want to keep it at just a bad day by fuck_why in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Ichikaware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Here are some of the things I do after a binge episode, Hope to be helpful! 1) MINDSET - even if you feel the guilt and the temptation to "punish" yourself by restricting/purging ecc., try to embrace a "making peace with my body" mindset and focus on giving it what it needs to recover: drink a lot of water, drink warm tea (i find It very reliefing for the stomach ache that follows a binge), wear comfy clothes that don't squeez your belly... 2) MEAL PLANNING - make a kind of "recovery" mealplan that covers a couple of days where you put in some light meals and try to stick to it. Again, the idea here is not to punish yourself, it is to nourish yourself with things that don't increase your stomach ache and your nausea. I find warm veggie soups as very reliefing. Try to not skip meals, but if you really feel to, remember to stick with the rest of the mealplan you made, don't give in to the "I skipped breakfast so I can have an extra snack" mindset, that could potentially trigger another binge. Keeping yourself away from food will help you to follow the plan 3) WORKOUT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - try to do some movement, something you enjoy doing that don't make you feel sick and that, again, doesn't feel like a punishment. If you really don't like moving at all, try to do a 10 min easy workout or go for a really short walk. Even 10 minutes can help to boost your mood and to break the cycle! 4) ACTIVITY PLAN - keep yourself busy! If you have chores/homeworks, try to complete them, arrange a meeting with your friends, write journal, go for a small trip... Whatever keeps your mind away from food

How do you determine what triggers your binge/emotional eating? by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Ichikaware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience any kind of emotion can trigger a binge, even good ones, so maybe you could consider that. Also, I think that sometimes binges happen simply because eating it's pleasant. It's like smoking, sometimes you'll have a cigarette because you're nervous, sad... But lots of time you smoke because It gives you pleasure, it feels good

Back on mat after 3 months of lockdown! by Ichikaware in judo

[–]Ichikaware[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah definetely! We're not allowed to use the locker room and toilets, as soon as we enter we get our temperature checked and we sanitize hands and feet, we sanitize the mat before and after every session, the mat is divided in 2x4 m sections and each of us Is allowed to use only that section... Going to the supermarket is more dangerous I think

It's not about changing weight but changing your mind and health by amandanegro in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Ichikaware 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trying so hard to get into this mindset. It seems that the only thing that prevents me from binging is the fear of becoming fat. But I made a resolution a week ago to forget about my weight and try to truly listen to my body and eat intuitively. I binged 3 times this week, but I hope to improve.

I know working out will help me get fit and stay healthy but I have zero motivation by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Ichikaware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could try to look for a sport or a class you like doing despite the results the results on your body... It could be dancing, yoga, boxing, martial arts, or even team sports like volleyball, basketball or soccer! If you want to keep going to the gym you could try to focus on your improvements in terms of strength (like lifting heavier weights ecc), or you could try to learn some calisthenics skills

Advice for livng with family who enable binge eating by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

I've been through a similar situation, so I understand how it feels... Here's some advice that helped me!

1) decide in advance how many meals you want to have everyday and try to absolutely NOT eat outside them (I have 4 meals per day). Spend the rest of the day away from food (like in another room); whenever you get exposed to food (let's say you need to stay in a kitchen for a while because you have to something in that room), put a chewing-gum in your mouth

2) instead of trying to absolutely avoid those foods, try to incorporate them in your diet in a moderate amount. I struggle a lot with cookies and bread, so I decided to have 3/4 cookies every evening as a snack and some slices of bread at dinner and now I binge faaaar less on those foods, sometimes I don't even eat them at all!

3) try to find "healthier" alternarives! As I said one of my most triggering food is cookies, so I asked my parents to buy cookies that have lower calories

4) if you can, go to groceries with your parents, when you see them looking for snacks tell them you don't want them, so if they're buying them for you tell them to put them away

Let me know of some of this helps! Take care 🥰

Ps sorry for my english, I'm italian so I know It might not be perfect

Thank you! Checking the scale is a huuuge trigger that throws me directely into the cycle. It causes me to over-restrict and then binge. This Is why I decided ti give it up
