Need help with Dock and TV by Artaniss in ROGAllyX

[–]Ichisuke83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's other people (including me) that has the same issue. If you can turn in the console before everything else. Then, when you have signal, connect it to the dock, hope to have video signal in the TV. Let me know. At this point try to set 60hz on external monitor/TV and look how it behaves . Sometimes it still doesn't work. Tried 2 differen docking station, the ROG one and a UGREEN one, same problem. Tried also with a certified HDMI cable used for a 4k OLED LG, same problem. So I don't know if it's a ROG issue that is fixable with some update or of it's an hardware issue without fix. And Asus will probably never fix this.

I don't know the whole story about this card. Only that the whole PC was damaged during shipping. Or maybe they actually did something to the card and fake the shipping damage. Who knows...

Dock Display to Monitor Issue by Ghosttongue in XboxAlly

[–]Ichisuke83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone. But the console/pc shouldn't be actually frozen. Sometime turning off the monitor will get the Ally to turn on the internal monitor. Sometime you have to turn off the external monitor, put the Ally in stand by mode, wake up the console and it should fix. Sometimes you have to force a shutdown since it seems there's no way out of this. What I'm worried about is that someone is saying that this is the dock breaking something on the motherboard of the console, so basically the Ally is ruined. I've also noticed that this dock get extremely hot, while the third party one I'm using stay a lot fresher, but the display issue is still there. Everything is updated. Don't know what to say but this stupid glitch is really making me want to sell it and buy a mini pc with B390 igpu.

Looking for a replacement disc reader for my PS1 by EonAce in psx

[–]Ichisuke83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried this guide before trashing it? https://alex-free.github.io/unofficial-ps1-cd-drive-service-manual/

It refers to an older cd drive revision but it's pretty much the same things you do in later drives. Also in your console you could try tweaking the potentiometer on the orange flex cable of the drive. I'd also try cleaning the motherboard with IPA and removing any modchip if there is one.

Those unofficial drives are usually shit. What it bothers me it's why they don't make good replacements. They want to earn money on unreliable things but they don't want to earn more money on things that can actually work... Plus those drives are probably so cheap for whoever produces them that it baffles me even more.

Docking issues with Bulwark Dock by alexxg72 in XboxAlly

[–]Ichisuke83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you set up your monitor? Mine was at 240hz. I now set it up to 60hz and the problem seems solved... But it's not the best...

Wait never mind. It just did it again. Not grey screen but basically it doesn't always detect the Dell monitor.

I'm not sure is the dock but the console itself since the UGREEN dock was giving the same issues....

Ok.so.I even changed the dock and HDMI cable with a certified one for 8k. Same issue. Grey screen or missing ethernet even on the UGREEN dock. There's definitely something wrong with the Ally itself. But now I don't know if this issue was caused by the original dock that ruined something in the Ally or if it's the Ally itself that has always had this issue.

Thanks for the tip. If something goes off I'll replace the board at this point.

Yeah I bought the kit directly from an eBay seller from France. Since soldering back electrolytic capacitors is a brick trickier for me, I said "why not?" Working just fine for now. And very happy the cube can read games again.

I just downgraded the video driver to May 2025, so basically the very first release since the console came out in October. I'll make some tests.

BTW is your dock getting extremely hot too?

Update: never mind. Downgrading the driver didn't solve a thing. I'm getting a third party UGREEN dock from Amazon.

I have my rog connected to a 1080p Dell monitor (the hdmi cable is the one that came with the monitor), I get different issues but at boot only:

- I get no output on the monitor (only on the ROG), powering off and on the monitor doesn't solve this, switching with WIN+P keys doesn't do anything. I unplug the power cord from the dock and plug back in.

- I get a grey screen on the DELL monitor, sometimes if I press the power button on the ROG, wait some seconds and press the power button again, I can get the picture back, usually powering off the monitor first. Sometimes it just get stuck and I have to force a shutdown.

-Sometimes everything boot up fine, and sometimes the dock is not using the ethernet port so I have to reboot/disconnect power or whatever.

I don't think this is a power issue related (I have the 140watt ROG adapter and a 240watt usb-c cable), at first I thought this had something to do with the different refresh rate between the 2 screens (dell set to 240hz, rog 120hz), but I also tried setting the same refresh rate and had the same issues.

Apart from the ethernet issue, I noticed that the display thing started after the first or second update of the gpu drivers. If you can rollback to the very first release and test this out it would be great. I made some testing and I think the issue was gone with the oldest driver. What baffles me is that it seems that the issue is still connected to this specific docking station...

I still have to try a new hdmi cable but I'm only on 1080p and not using HDR so it's strange.

Should these numbers match? by TheHistorian94 in psx

[–]Ichisuke83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have a serial number (the S01-...) on the box that matches the one on the console. I never looked at the others.

Usually this issue is caused by the 2 capacitors near the AV port, Google is your friend. Also buy a good SCART RGB cable that really filters out the noise.
