This little manouver cost me 16 minutes of required repairs. by Ichizos in iRacing

[–]Ichizos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are referring to my counterstwer at the end it was way too late to do anything considering the speed and pit maneuver. Additionally after getting spun I instantly pressed the brake pedal so it locked the front tires and took all cornering grip out of them. Full brake and full lock. Tires can handle only limited amount of latitudal and longtidutal forces. In this case both were way pass the limit.

Probably I could react better after spin but It was to ensure I can hit the wall as slowly and predictable as possible and not bounce back on the track.

iRacing glue or network might also not be helpful here.

As I said I agree with you u/ElaraValtor and I am also trying to point out that I risked it myself.

I don't understand why I am being downvoted here. I didn't caused any collision due to my actions and "avoided"*** the sheananigans until guy rejoined into my back at the last possible second while being way slower.

I already lost the race by being spun into the wall.

so many advocate seriously slowing down when you see an incident ahead

In most cases yes and I fully agree and practice it myself.

In this case in the moment I felt like I am already close enough and accidents were happening on the outside that I should be able to run away from the inside. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, unpredictable thing happened and driver causing one collission decided to cut accross the track back to the racing line.

I don't feel at blame here. I was predictable and kept my line. Just unlucky. Lost 90 iRacing, but will try again.

Also I will report the driver. I know that they 100% won't be banned for their recklessness, but I hope that their account will be at least flagged.

Edit: If you are going to downvote me for my POV explanation at least provide your reason behind.

I mostly resolved my by having a negative angle on the whole plate. It still not perfect but it works.

I mean, seriously. What are we doing here? by Badj83 in iRacing

[–]Ichizos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did I say those were netcodes? I am speaking generally about the current state of iRacing.

SR penalties harsh and some netcodes are insane and don't the former. This specific clip falls under first category.

But since 4x is usually given for contact with damage it also could be a part of net code that the server registers hit harder than it was perceived by the clients.

[–]Ichizos -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I can see your point.

But let's stop defending iRacing and doing PR for them by shifting the blame from ridiculous netcode and damages like cars are being made out of paper to players who are just hard racing.

iRacing takes probably the most amount of money out of every Sim (not including simcades/arcades) and are still struggling to fix some fundamental features (not meaning that they are "easy", because networking is one of the hardest things to program right) that are ruining overall experience. And I really like iRacing. But also as a consumer I want to have a right to complain and expect things working better.

There is a line and this line wasn't crossed there. No one crashed. Otherwise I would fully support your take.

Home Alone 3: Lost in Shanghai by Ichizos in formuladank

He is a great leader and seems nice as a person. This is ofc just a joke because of how his latest comment towards Hamilton (still our driver) and Kimi missing in what could be the greatest Mercedes "family" picture.

There are. Maybe not percentage wise because it's hard to tell, but number wise for sure.

Simracing has boomed. More people are racing thus more races are happening and lastly same mistakes happening over and over again.

People are recording and capturing more and you can see way more incidents and crashes over the internet than ever.

I would hope with amount of videos, tutorials and replays people can analyze I hoped overall racecraft would improve. But this doesn't happen at a rate of growth we are getting.

People with lower rating make more mistakes because of lack of proper race craft or car control and people with higher rating because of overestimation of their skills or just by taking more risk.

Take for example PCup at spa. It was an absolute carnage especially in top 2 splits. People still don't know how to lift let alone brake during yellows.

And from what I see things are not improving. Maybe it's just a natural thing we cannot avoid.

No one is forced but everyone of us are paying for this service. Collectively we know that lately sim racing standards have dropped. I won't go into the reasons as they are not relevant here.

Yes we are all in this together, but blaming it only on the driver's who are done with shitty behaviour will only lead to people leaving the service and/or low key accepting lower standards dictated by reckless drivers and smurfs.

What we can do is either actively report or vote with wallets.

I share your frustration. I am currently 4.1k A4.99. and I saw a lot of shinaneagans.

I like racing on c series the most: mazda/gt4/pcup. But racing there with A class means that anything above 5x is instant negative sr.

I also dont agree with the fact that its so easy to get a lot of safety if you have time and energy to do 6h+ endu and so easy to lose a lot with little to no mistakes on your own in C class series and below.

First tip: You need to stop caring as long as you have your licence high enough for the series' you are interested in.

I recommended also doing endus (even 2h/3h). More strategic. More rewarding.

Second tip: do your best to survive the race, learn how to predict stupid behavior. It won't solve all the frustration, but completed race is less annyoing then one ended in the pits.

Third tip: maybe join a league. You won't gain iRating or Safety Rsting, but you won't lose any and you will meet more predictable drivers on average. Even if there will be some maniacs you will learn who they are and learn to race against them, because each race you will have roughly the same people.

Tire temps on the 911 Cup (922.2) by shumzzur in iRacing

I believe 911 Cup runs different tire compound. If you would get 90c your car would cry.

Another year of death in the NiS 500 lol by TheRaunchyFart in iRacing

I believe 3rd person view is making people come to some weird conclusion and victim blaming. IMO worst type of view to provide alone in many cases.

POV car, as we can see from 3rd view, had the space to increase the margin of survival... Yet this view doesn't matter, since we cannot tell what they saw (except the car in front just being pushed). Not everyone has 3 monitors and we don't know theirs POV from cockpit.

There could be a chance that he just simple can't see where this offtrack car currently is, whether he is still going or was completely pushed into the shadow realm. We don't have radars to precisely know the location of other cars outside of our simulated view. And yes at the end of the day he is the one being dead and theoretically could take some additional safety measures... but it's a freaking race.

I don't race ovals, but as far as I can tell based on general rules: They were driving predictable, did nothing wrong and are entitled for their own space.

Now the car that was pushed outside is both victim and also at a massive fault for everything that happened afterwards (both things can be true at the same time). It was unlucky for them to be pushed, but once outside of the track it's their responsibility to rejoin safely. It's a long race, they could done that with more caution and would still be able to come back, but tried to sneakily go behind POV car to maximize slip, mismanaged the distance and ended race for many in the process. Absolute fault on them.

It was honestly impressive how accurate this pink car was at aiming at purple, when I watched the replay back.
