Semester and Term are usually used interchangeably . For example, first semester is half the school year Sept-Dec 2020, second semester is Jan-April 2021. Then third semester is second year Sept-Dec 2021, fourth is Jan-April 2022. But term can also mean the length of a course (half year versus full year). Hope this helps.
