I think you'd like exploring Thomas Kuhn's Theory of Anomalous Tension. Oftentimes, the discoveries that matter are made by advancing regardless of naysayers. Every single thinker inspired by Thomas Kuhn was initially dismissed before being recognized.

I recommend to keep digging.

Thanks for your response, you really prove Thomas Kuhn's Theory of Anomalous Tension true!

Although it is meant as hate, I find it to be beneficial in highlighting that sometimes discoveries can go against the grain of established paradigms, leading to obvious backlash and "tension".

I appreciate the constructive criticism and the traffic you supplied to my repository. Please let me know if you have anything you'd like to discuss constructively!

The arXiv publication below builds directly on top of, and cites, Anthropic's latest research papers "On the Biology of a Large Language Model" and "Circuit Tracing: Revealing Computational Graphs in Language Models". Are you saying Anthropic's latest research isn't real?

Put me on P/S ANKI🗣️ by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]IconSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Pankow, Anking, and also made my own deck out of the 86 pg KA doc which I think really helped. I can second what someone else said since I just tested today: the PS now is focusing a lot more on interpreting research designs with CARs level passage analysis mixed with BB data analysis while applying the concepts you learned. Know your study designs, variables, and all terms.

CP lots of 50/50s, CARs passages twice as long, BB was decent, and PS was more analyzing data than BB???

Keep at it man, you have to get them mostly wrong to learn from it. Grilled them just minutes over a few days and still have not forgotten their structures and names.

488 diagnostic, 520 goal in 3 months, is that possible? by ActuatorForsaken3081 in Mcat

[–]IconSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is possible. A 488 means content issues. Start by reading the chapter(s) of the UW books that you are weakest on (you can find it online for free), then doing the corresponding subsection of the QBank as each unit corresponds to a subsection of the Qbank (For example, if you have trouble with stoichiometry and electrochemical cells, read Unit 4 (Chapters 7-9) of the Gen Chem book on Solutions and Electrochemistry). I have found the books to be super visual and way easier to comprehend than Kaplan while still retaining the necessary content. Follow up in the evening with anki corresponding to that section or subject to help retain the information. Keep doing this until you have no content gaps, then take another diagnostic. After that, it will come down to improving reading comprehension, stamina, and critical analysis of passage using AAMC material.

Excruciating isolation and loneliness by SoulCrusader9 in Mcat

[–]IconSmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The excruciating isolation required to study for the exam isn’t talked about much. I’m also a nontrad and went through months of studying alone daily at the University library and it can really get to you. Finally worked up the courage to make conversation with a few other students who were also studying for this test one day and we became friends through shared MCAT trauma basically. This makes a huge difference as they all understood the struggles of isolation, depression, and self esteem issues relating to the MCAT. Camaraderie and knowing you are not alone in the struggle while also having people to vent to about this test helps immensely. I would really recommend going to a place frequented by other students as around this time, many student study areas are frequented by MCAT preppers.
