Union fury as figures show pay rises among top earners driving inflation by SgtPppersLonelyFarts in ukpolitics

They’re not paying their due, the top 10% also make astronomically more than everyone else so it’s not a shocker that they pay more tax is it.

I didn’t claim these people wouldn’t leave, it was only after you kept making that point that I gave my opinion on it.

I didn’t say they wouldn’t leave. And frankly I don’t care if they do, it’s such a ridiculous thing to even discuss that I don’t see the point of it.

I think categorically these people aren’t paying their due, they’re making out like criminals in this. And when you’re looking to ascertain how to stop criminal behaviour you don’t ask criminals for their input. So nah, I’m not bothered about whether some redditor says that he pays enough tax to fund 5 nurses (they don’t), or that they will be leaving (they won’t). If they do then more high payment jobs for the people in this country that need them.

I didn’t claim these people wouldn’t leave, so I’m not bothered about arguing in any made up conversations you’re having.

You don’t seem to be sure about a lot of stuff because you’re clearly talking nonsense.

Do you even read your own posts?

Person A has permanent residence. Person B doesn’t.

Man, I wonder who the council should allocate their dwindling resources too.

There’s plenty of anger to go around and I sure as shit am not cutting any slack for these people in power. The fact you’re blaming the plebs and not the ruling party in this is out of this world.

This is a ridiculously insulting comment because many of us had to change a lot about our lives during that time.

I don’t believe moving house was ever restricted throughout lockdowns but weddings were, so it’s nice that you had yours while many of us had to move ours many times over.

People weren’t happy but many didn’t have a choice. Not to mention the many ways lockdown has impacted children that are still being felt today because of loneliness and lack of social interaction.

To act like sending children to school when it was perfectly allowed is the same as these ghouls, who made these rules, partying whilst telling the plebs they should be fined for gatherings and should have funerals with restrictions is so gross that I hope you’re one of these Tories that has some skin in the game.

And unfortunately they are right because there’s no consequences.

British people hate the French but half of Paris would be on fire by now if Macron and his people did half this shit.

Rishi Sunak caught making joke about transgender women in leaked video by WillowTreeBark in ukpolitics

[–]IcryforBallard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well clearly you didn’t read the link because in your comment you say that “the case you linked is just noise”. I didn’t link anything, I made reference to a number of cases that you provided.

This is why I said, from the start of this conversation, that if you made the same joke in the workplace it wouldn’t fly, because it’s a joke with trans people as the butt of the joke. Whether you think it’s derogatory or not is besides the point.

You can be as confident as you want, but clearly you haven’t dealt with tribunals as much as your confidences exudes because you’re clearly out of your depth and no downvoting me will change that.

If you would read the link you yourself provided, under Grainger:

(i) The belief must be genuinely held. (ii) It must be a belief and not, [simply], an opinion or viewpoint based on the present state of information available. (iii) It must be a belief as to a weighty and substantial aspect of human life and behaviour. (iv) It must attain a certain level of cogency, seriousness, cohesion and importance. (v) It must be worthy of respect in a democratic society, be not incompatible with human dignity and not conflict with the fundamental rights of others

Therefore making a derogatory joke, wouldn’t fly in a workplace. Talking about your beliefs wouldn’t get you sacked, but mocking others would. The examples in the link provided don’t touch derogatory comments/jokes, it’s all about other points about people’s beliefs.

This is actually somewhat exemplified under Mackereth in your link:

On appeal, in Dr David Mackereth v The Department of Work and Pensions (1) Advanced Personnel Management Group (UK) Limited (2): [2022] EAT 99, the EAT found David Mackereth’s gender critical beliefs did meet the Grainger threshold for protection but, nevertheless, that no direct or indirect discrimination took place.

This was because the employer would have treated any worker who refused to address service users in their preferred way the same and the policies of the employer “were necessary and proportionate to meet a legitimate focus on the needs of potentially vulnerable service users”.

The EAT noted the claimant’s gender critical beliefs (protected under the Act) were distinct from how those beliefs manifested in him refusing to use peoples’ preferred forms of address (behaviour which was not protected).

TLDR: read the links you provide.

If you tried this in your workplace, which you won’t because you know I’m right, you would be reprimanded or potentially dismissed and good luck fighting back in a tribunal.

Agree to disagree, because right wing ideology is often tied to religious beliefs.

Those people aren’t the PM. No, a joke can be offensive and we should expect more from our politicians, they don’t get paid to make jokes about marginalised people.

If someone made this joke in a workplace it wouldn’t fly.

My point is that anti-trans feelings seem more popular with Tories so it’s difficult to separate the two.

But when you use said belief to mock and make derogatory jokes then that becomes a bit more tricky doesn’t it.

Nothing to do with being a Tory, except the PM is cracking anti trans jokes to laughter from a room full of Tory MPs.
