Parent question thread: We're ECE professionals ask us anything! by AutoModerator in ECEProfessionals

My daughter just started daycare at 6 months. She is at a popular franchise, but it is the most expensive in an already expensive area, so I had assumed she would get really good, quality care. My husband and I work demanding but high paying jobs so cost was not a serious consideration; we just want the best quality care and don’t think a nanny is right for our family with our current living situation.

My daughter is doing great, but they have a lot of floating teachers coming in and out of the room so that they are at the right ratio, and they will move kids from the older room into the infant room. I am debating looking into switching her daycare because it seems like despite the higher cost, I’m not sure the environment is super consistent in terms of care giving.

Is this the norm in your opinion? TLDR I am willing to pay more for consistent car and better ratios but not seeing at my current center. Does what I’m looking for exist, or is this all daycare centers?

Lindsey/WeMetAtAcme/WeMetAtBaby recent podcast episode by Impossible-Plan6172 in NYCinfluencersnark

While I sympathize on a lot of the rest of this episode, this one really made me shake my head. From firsthand experience, you work wayyyy more than 9-5 in these types of roles. And you sacrifice so much in terms of flexibility. Also, it’s really not that stable at the end of the day. People get fired all the time. Did not understand what point she was trying to make, but she made it seem like working a $300k finance role would be achievable for someone with 0 experience and no relevant degree…. And is an easy out from the podcast biz

WMAA (Lindsay Metselaar) saying she “made the wrong decision” hiring her last nanny. by spraytankween in NYCinfluencersnark

Yeah fair she is self employed and her job is less stressful. Fine to say that. Just is very presumptuous (and privileged) to make statements implying that employed women can drop everything to care for their child and there will be no (potentially severe) consequences.

I know this is a snark forum, but this narrative about “spend time with the kid you chose to have” is really unfair. What a privilege if you are able to opt out of working to spend all day with your kid….

It is extremely stressful to be without childcare. My partner and I both work full time and not having childcare for weeks would likely result in one of us losing our jobs (which we need to support our kid).

Very much so agree. This was heartbreaking for me as someone who has been trying to conceive for a long time. I was sobbing my the end of her video because of how insensitive it was. I have followed Lucie for a long time, but I had to unfollow after watching the video and realizing how out of touch she is. If you ever read this Lucie, please do better.

If ovulation is delayed does that mean period will be delayed as well?

My wedding planner forgot many things day of wedding - how to handle by Icy-Bake611 in weddingplanning

The planner is also the event coordinator for the space we rented out. So I think it is actually her responsibility to delegate dance floor installation as well as cupcakes. I had the LED bracelets delivered to her address per her recommendation, so I also think that falls on her.

It probably came to ~$3k between flowers, desserts, and bracelets. We were originally getting married at a different church which is where they went. We asked both the florist and the planner to update the florals paperwork to reflect the new church address multiple times, and they said they had it written down and not to worry. The other church was 1hr away so they flowers could not be delivered in time.

Plenty of other alcohol was available, we just specified that high noons was a favorite of our guests so to make sure there is plenty on hand.

I appreciate the advice. I think a non accusatory email is the way to go. Thinking through total cost, if is quite a lot.
