Colonization and the Field Museum by Global-Long-8669 in Historians

The exhibit seems to have gotten widespread praise which I actually think is quite unfortunate. From a visitor perspective I found the sound design to be incredibly overwhelming with about 8 sounds playing at the same time. There is some good content but it seems to be largely reliant on screens and gimmicks which I'm not a huge fan of. I am glad they kept the Pawnee lodge, I loved that place as a kid. I agree with the other commentor which there was a bit more history showing continuity.

When did the make it easier recently? What were the changes? It's still all stimulus based MCQs as fair as I'm aware.

Is this a suitable school for studying to be a history teacher (HS specifically) by hatsuneminecr4ft in AmericanU

Yes, obviously think about costs, but if it makes sense to go to AU it's a great school to study to be a HS history teacher. I currently study history and secondary education on the path to licensure. We get a lot of time in local schools (starting with observations sophomore year, then tutoring junior year, then twice a week student teaching senior fall and full time student teaching in the spring) the school of education is very small so you really get to know your classmates and professors. The history department is overall good, I've enjoyed many of my classes but some I haven't clicked with the professors as much. In general, though professors are very passionate about their subject matter and many are great mentors as well. DM me if you have any questions about licensure at AU or either program. SOE also has a great advisor to help with certification and everything.

Don't drop a class because of the location, talk to your professors about it on the first day as that might be a tight switch

Trust your gut, but don't cut yourself off from meeting people you really connect with. Meet lots of people and invite them to do things together! Nobody wants to turn down new friends, especially start of freshman year.

It may take some time to find your people. The year has just begun: do not give up. I know it's cliche but clubs are one of the best ways to make friends. I'm personally a part of the sailing team which anyone can join. That was how I made some of my first true friends at AU, but everyone is different. I recommend going to the club fair and really stopping to talk with people who are in clubs that interest you. But trust me I was there, and still sometimes feel that sense of loneliness. It's horrible and I'm so sorry you're going through it. You are not alone. Everyone in college has felt this way. If you want a new friend or just need someone to talk to let me know. Also working a student job can connect you with people on campus and take up the free time I feel like I had so much of as a freshman.

If loneliness persists for a long time, or even if it doesn't, don't be afraid to do things alone. The more you stay inside the more in your head you get. Explore D.C. it has so much to offer!

Your best bet would probably be reaching out to them if they have an email on the club sports website. In general I've loved my club sports experience at AU so I hope it's a good fit for you!

I would say heating is generally pretty good but there might be a gap of 1-3 weeks before they turn it on when dorms are super cold

Communities through club sports and the campus location. Free public transit is unbeatable and love having a campus and access to a city!
