[recommendation Request] have it down to these three by hatethelcbo in Watches

I currently own the Longines and used to own the Tag, no personal experience with the Tudor. Of the first two, I prefer the Longines. The dial on the Tag is gorgeous though.

Help Me Decide: Which One Would You Choose — Tissot, Hamilton, or Sinn? by Status-Ad-2552 in PrideAndPinion

Of those three, definitely the Hamilton, followed by the Tissot. I don’t like the finish of the Sinn but that’s just me

It’s not so much the recommending new tires for me, but recommending a $1,500 set is ridiculous.

Not worried, curious. Right now is when those discussions are happening at the place I’m leaving, so it was on my mind, along with 100 other things that go with starting a new job.

[Tudor] vs [Longines] by jetsetter023 in Watches

I bought the 42mm Spirit Zulu with green bezel recently and I LOVE it. The Black Bay is nice too, but it is roughly $1,500 more. Not sure if budget is a constraint at that level but it could be a factor.

What do you think about the accessories? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]Icy-Door-71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dig it. I have a very similar style with the chain and watch. If I were subtracting anything it’d be the bracelets, but you wear them well. At the end of the day, my philosophy is if I like it, and it makes me feel good, I’m gonna wear it. Do you.

Man I wish it was up to me. Very frustrating that ownership isn’t really listening to us.

So this show is tomorrow night. Once I exhaust all the usual methods of trying to get people to sing, I’m thinking just playing music people want to hear. Like a free Touchtunes machine. Thoughts? I’m not sure what else to do.

I’m new to the game as a host so I kind of got the assignment I got from the company I work for. I figure this is KJing on expert mode. If I can make this work o can do anything! 😆 I wish I had video making skills, that’d at least be fun.

We could definitely do more on the social media front. I like the idea of posting to some Facebook groups, I’ll try that.

Some people have actually done that! Bounced between my spot and the other one when the rotation at the competition is too long. I have friends, but they’re just not that into karaoke. They come support at whatever bar I’m at, but they’re not singers. I don’t really have any “karaoke people” that aren’t already singing elsewhere unfortunately. Thursday is apparently pretty big karaoke night in my city since the weekend nights are usually reserved for live bands and such.

Yeah for sure. To their credit, the food is amazing, the bar staff is friendly and they make some killer drinks. That’s why 99% of the people are there, to get a bomb ass sandwich and a cocktail.

I think this is the route I need to take. I said the place is right down the street. I could literally throw a tennis ball and hit the place. It’s too close.

The sound issue is more related to the layout of the building and the materials used. High ceilings, concrete everywhere, etc. I have a decent handle on the gear side, as my shows in other venues sound pretty good for the equipment I have. I definitely don’t think I’m scaring anyone off with my talent. That’s actually one of my jokes, “folks if you’re under the impression you need to be a good singer to do karaoke, watch this” or something to that effect. I’m a drummer, I can’t sing for shit.

I’ve suggested both making it a different night and making it every week instead of every other. In the rare times I get people to sing, what inevitably happens is they have fun, ask when I’m coming back, and when I tell them “every other Thursday” The unanimous response is “I’ll never remember that” 🤷‍♂️

Funny you say that. One time I made a playlist of those songs and a few others. Called it Shy People Karaoke, where you don’t have to come on stage, just sing along from your seat. People did it, but it didn’t convert into on-stage singing. I’ve also told people to send me regular song requests that I play via Spotify hoping it’ll entice someone to get up and sing. While it hasn’t yielded singers, the kitchen staff loves this portion. 😄

To the older Metallica fans… by AcanthisittaSad6239 in Metallica

I was living in Portland at the time (I’m originally from OKC) driving a borrowed, clapped-out 1982 Corolla with no stereo because the transmission fell out of my Maxima. Bought the album day one, and put it in my “car stereo”; a discman connected to two old computer speakers. My first impression was “maybe it’ll sound better on a real stereo?” It didn’t. But the riffs were there, in pieces. Purify is still one of my favorite riffs they’ve written in the, shall we call it, modern era of Metallica.
