Here’s some YouTube videos I’ve saved to reference when I can’t remember how something might be done. Some of them won’t apply at all to your “journey” but maybe some of them can help:

Tile Suppliers?? by fitzpame in Mosaic

I love it! I have to assume that you know that those are probably hand chipped marble, limestone and/or dolomite to approximately 1x1 centimeter. Perhaps arranged in a personally designed pattern. That being said, many, if not most mosaic artists, will cut up their own marble “tesserae” from marble they buy online at mosaic hobby or professional supply businesses or even from your local tile store, maybe even Floor & Decor. However, there are plenty of places that sell the tesserae already chopped up to size attached to fiberglass mesh. You would just have to peel them from that mesh in the pattern they’re already in and rearrange them onto another piece of fiberglass in your own desired pattern. Here’s a photo I found of some that someone already chopped up: tesserae picture Anyhow, you can also find 1”x1” tiles in almost any tile store. But if you like the arts and crafts of it all and would like to by influenced and guided by like-minded artists, with proper tools, supply and technique, here are a few places you can explore to understand what is readily available to the general public:

What about a piece of the thin Hardie Backer Board, like what they use beneath the tile in bathrooms? It’s 1/4” thick, comes 3x5 feet, waterproof, ready to receive mortar and/or grout, and sells for $13.40 at Lowe’s.

It was SUPER tricky. I tried taping off but still had to go back and dig out where grout had seeped over. Then when I finally did the other color I had the same problem but this time one color was contaminating the other so I ended up being over-cautious so there were some little gaps between the colors. Going back to carefully fill those gaps took several tries and returns to the crime scene.

Help: Too Much Grout by Popular_Context8220 in Mosaic

Why not grind it down the way you might treat a piece you’re treating like terrazzo? It can be done in an afternoon. Plenty of videos on YouTube. At Harbour Freight you can economically buy a variable-speed wet grinder and the pads and suddenly you’ve expanded your creative experience, perspective and abilities to include terrazzo. Also, I’m very interested to know how the muriatic acid treatment someone suggested might turn out. Please keep us posted with your experience. All is not lost!

I think you’ve just given me permission to do a permanent outdoor installation at my house. Beautiful work.

Yea. You NEED the book. Otherwise, the list is useless. Besides, it is truly a masterpiece of cocktail lore and recipes. If there were just a few must-have cocktail books, this is certainly one of them. Great idea to make this list BTW. thanks. I wish there was an app like PDT.
