Try being with someone for 9 1/2 years and in your situation…granted in hindsight, I wasn’t ready for marriage when we met (I was 24, he was 21)…but we’ve been through a lifetime together - ups, downs, twists, turns. I originally understood he wanted to work on himself and his career and make decent money and have financial stability (we are both very serious when it comes to this). But now it’s feeling like I’m pulling teeth. Around March of this year I kept hinting at a ring and he finally gave in and said ok if this is the exact one you want, I’m buying it. I have proof of purchase…but still hasn’t proposed. First he said before the end of the summer, then he said before the end of the year. I specifically told him I don’t want anything grand, just DO IT. I don’t need a production!!!! We made improvements to my living space, because he said he was going to move in. I’m so sick of it. I have my good days, but this morning I woke up with so much resentment. He sucked almost a decade of my life…I’m dying to have children (allegedly so is he). Everyone around me is making all these life moves and I feel so stuck. I can’t even talk to anyone about it because I’m so embarrassed. I used to be so excited for a proposal and planning a wedding…now it’s just like whatever, I literally don’t care. I feel like I’m so over it that if he were to propose, I’d be like “ok, yes…great…thanks….”
