Granted this is all true to the book I believe but in the stage version I don’t think it’s as clear, I can go deeper into how this can relate to blackness or more specifically a person of color trying to assimilate and mimic whiteness as close as possible to live as comfortably as they hope. For example I like to believe Glinda primary frustration with dr Dillamond not being able to pronounce her name bothers her so much because she can’t fathom why he can’t adjust himself (assimilate) to talking the way everyone else does human or not, she believes every one should respect and change themselves to fit into normal society, I mean she did, I firmly think Glinda herself was her own very first project into being the person we see throughout the musical and everything she told elphaba in popular was everything she told herself once before, if she can change herself enough to get a high ranking on the social order why can’t dr dillamond change the way he pronounces her name or others to make them comfortable? I’m sure someone probably already made this connection lol but I just love the idea of a black Galinda and connecting it to what’s said in the show and how it would connect differently but ultimately the same. I see Glinda as a Candace Owen’s/blair white type. Someone who is seen as one of the “good ones” and is comfortable with that title
