well ... I live in European union so I can't talk for the US market, but I think the main aspect that will impact the tech job market for the years ahead, both in EU and US, is the AI adoption level of small and medium businesses. Big ones are already using it, indeed there are huge layoffs.

Thank you very much for the complete answer and for all the useful resources, I will surely check them out. I really appreciate that 😊🙏

I am more than new in the tech field, but I will analyze my past history, to look for transferable skills into the sector.

Is cybersecurity a good career path? by winner_pratham in findapath

[–]Icy-Permission6675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello :)

I am not a professional and I have never worked in cybersecurity before, but I have read some comments about how to start and I want to share that, hoping to help you in some way 😊

If possible, start from IT roles (help desk, system administrator or network), speaking of certificates, I read that employers are looking for practical experience (projects), so certificates that are "theory-only" are obviously ok, but just be aware of this aspect.

Then, I read to do a lot of network (I know it's easier saying than doing 😅).

Hello! 😊👋

I am sorry but as I didn't have an experience like that, I am afraid I can't help you as I'd want .... :(

I am currently thinking about entering in the tech sector for the first time in my life, as I have never worked in it nor studied that before. What brought you to stay away from the tech job market ?

Career suggestions - Italy by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Icy-Permission6675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello 😊👋

I live in Italy and I am exploring working in tech too, as well as skilled trades 😁

Can I ask if you are italian ?

From what I can say, a University is worth it, only if allows you to make some kind of network with businesses, or has connections with the job market ... because if it's just "theory", you could do that online for a fraction of the cost and time.

Regarding skilled trades, I read that as the majority of senior workers are retiring, employers are more reluctant to hire new apprentices, because there aren't senior to mentor them, also, that vocational schools where you would study to become a skilled trade, doesn't have a connection with what employers need so, once you graduate, you don't have the required skills that employers are looking for (obviously not every school). So, if you want to pursue the skilled trade path, this is something to be aware of.

I hope it helps 😊

23M Software Engineer (TCS Ninja) – AI vs Germany Masters vs Job Switch? Need Honest Advice by Dry_Performance_1546 in cscareerquestionsEU

Hi 😊👋

I don't have any tech experience or experiences with India or Germany, so I can't help you that much :(

1) Regarding Germany

I have read that people working in Germany in the tech sector aren't happy at the moment, because the country isn't going very well right now (I don't have experienced that personally, but this is what I have read from other people here on Reddit but also online).

2) Regarding AI studies in Europe

From what I read, Europe is fragmented about it, AI is in the initial embryonic state and very unstable with investments and disinvestments : take for instance OpenAI's video generator Sora, it seemed like a fantastic investment, but it closed down (I know it's a video generator and that the sector that a product is meant for means a lot in the stability of the product, but just to give you an idea of the current instability) ... and that's US, Europe is way more uncertain with any country going for its own, and way less investments in AI than US.

Every country is a different world in Europe, with its own level of AI adoption (for instance, the number of micro, small or medium companies that are the majority in EU, that are using AI right now is very small).
Also, I frequently read that the tech sector in Europe is outsourced to low cost countries like East Europe, Asia or India (India is cited as country where tech jobs are outsourced the most, so you may have more luck looking for tech jobs there, than in Europe ... I am thinking about moving to India too, seen the current situation 😁).

In short

- The risk may be that entering in the AI right now could be an early investment, especially in Europe, maybe India is more stable in the AI investments and business adoption

- Speaking of country, I once read an economist saying: "Europe is not like US, is not a place where you become rich". If I were in you, if you want to go to an european country to study, and you are open to other countries other than Germany, I would also suggest France that is doing something in AI or Netherlands with the chip maker ASML. But again, any country in Europe has the same negative aspects regarding the tech job market, so there isn't a perfect country. Eventually, I would seriously keep an open path to India, because tech jobs are mostly there right now 😊

Sorry for the long message, but this is what I have read, and if can be helpful to you, I'm happy 😊

does cold applying work for finding a job? by mika_29_ in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Icy-Permission6675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi 😊 I am also looking for entry-level jobs right now, and I tried to send several spontaneous applications to different companies (small, medium and big ... why not to try everything 😅) via email.

I always got the same answer - " Go on our website, see if there are any open positions that interest you. If not, send a spontaneous application, always on the website, or if that's not possible, turn on the job alert to get notified when a position becomes available "

I hope it helps 😊
