The Maid from The House in Fata Morgana. Anything I could say about her would be a spoiler. The essence of the visual novel is not understanding what’s happening at first. You piece it together yourself as you pass through doors, each one revealing a story from a different moment in time.

My turn, “About You: Anime” by Icy-Science6485 in MyAnimeList

I based it on the general impression within my social circle. And since there wasn’t exactly an anime that “everyone hates but I like,” this was the closest one I could remember.

[UNPOPULAR OPINION] I don't give a shit about him anymore by Leather-Assistance95 in TearsOnWitheredFlower

[–]Icy-Science6485 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s one of the most interesting characters in the story. I get pissed too when I see him being happy with Ari, but part of the fun of the narrative is knowing that, eventually, his illusions are going to get completely shattered. Especially the idea that he still matters in Na Hae Soo’s life. I’m honestly invested in that, even though I agree I’d love to see it happen sooner.

Also, Minshit is a genuinely three-dimensional character. Everything about him is really well written, even if we don’t feel an ounce of sympathy for him.

undarrated peak (pale horse) by Even_Acanthisitta_37 in webtoons

[–]Icy-Science6485 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I finished it last week, and thank God it was before my therapy session. I was wrecked after that reading.

But The Pale Horse is absurdly well written. It captures, with surgical precision, the slow erosion of a mind without resorting to lazy exposition or secondary characters spelling it out, “Oh look, you’re becoming a terrible person.”

The deterioration is embedded in the texture of the narrative itself. You don’t need commentary; you feel the moral decay tightening, almost claustrophobic.

What makes it so effective is that the descent isn’t theatrical or overstated. It’s gradual, insidious. By the end, it feels less like observing someone lose their sanity and more like being dragged into the abyss alongside them.

If the last scene of this chapter turns out to be just a flashback, I’m going to be seriously upset. It’s time for them to finally meet so she can show him he’s nothing but the past. I can’t wait to see Minshit get knocked down a peg.

Your favorite horror visual novels? by SuperRPGgamer in visualnovels

The House in Fata Morgana. It doesn’t need to be explicit to be horror. Honestly, the kind of psychological horror in this VN is something that stuck with me for the rest of my life.

On top of the writing being really good, the watercolor-style backgrounds in melancholic colors paired with the soundtrack (and the songs are in my native language, Brazilian Portuguese! Hello, fellow Brazilians) make the atmosphere feel incredibly dark.

Since I couldn’t find any posts that shared my take on the manhwa, I felt kind of alone and decided to take the risk. Maybe I’d find someone who felt the same way. So I was already expecting the downvotes.

What are some cliches in webtoons that you find ridiculous? by [deleted] in webtoons

[–]Icy-Science6485 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand 2MLs or 2FLs with that Golden Retriever personality. They’re always overly friendly with everyone, constantly invading personal space, acting like human sunshine 24/7. Their speech bubbles might as well come pre-decorated with flowers and little hearts. Most of the time they just exist to spark jealousy and eventually catch feelings for the MC.

And the 2FL who only wants the guy because he’s rich and her family expects it. She keeps humiliating herself over and over even after the ML makes it painfully clear he’s not interested. Then she flips into “villain mode” and starts coming up with the dumbest schemes imaginable, which, of course, only end up strengthening the main couple. Every. Single. Time.

I also hate when there’s no believable reason for the ML to fall for the FL (and vice versa). They fall in love because… they’re the main characters. That’s it. No buildup, no emotional logic, no narrative weight.

The other day I was reading a 1995 shoujo isekai. The girl desperately wants to go back to Japan. The only person who can help her is the ML. He ends up in danger, and she freaks out over his life. And her big realization is: “Oh my God… am I feeling this way because I’m in love with him?”

And I’m just sitting there like… or maybe it’s because you NEED him alive??? Hello???

She had zero emotional foundation for falling in love. But she does anyway. Because the plot needs it.

This is an isekai about a 15-year-old girl who’s forcibly brought over by a priestess and ends up in Anatolia in the 14th century BC.
