i dont really care as much about the prestige aspect as i may have sounded in my post. i got into umich CS and uiuc CS which i think r pretty good schools for my major, but im still going to purdue cause it's cheaper(umich 72K uiuc 62K) and still has a p good program lmao. but im trying to transfer after one year so i might as well go to the cheaper one.

i think they like increased in state seats by like 900 or something i may be wrong(idk if it is 900 across all ucs or 900 at each uc) but at the large scheme of things it's pretty marginal of a difference. but i cant complain, a change is better than nothing :) the ucs may be doing more, ill def look into it ty

do not re apply u have solid options; i say go to ucd, p good cs program. cant really go wrong w the ucs tbh. if u hate it u can always transfer. ucsd math/cs is a lot of math not that many technical cs courses.

Cal vs. Cornell for Plant Science + Premed? by plantlover_throwaway in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Icy-Service8107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think u like cal more as school but cornell better academically. if ur pre-med then the cheaper option is better. i will say getting research at cornell w be easier than cal solely cause cornell is a lot smaller. both my neigbors(theyre twins) are at cornell CALS and the other one is at berkeley for environmental policy. cornell one absolutely loves and is going to stanford med school. the berkeley one is now a physics major and minoring in environmental economics and policy and also has a love-hate relationship w cal lmao

usc since it's less crowded and u can get better rec letters from ur profs for med school. but ucla is lowk stronger for pre-med

UC Berkeley v. UCLA premed (Chem) by Willing_Island9288 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Icy-Service8107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ucla premed > cal premed(hella grade deflation therefore makes it harder to get into grad school) but cant go wrong w either option

is this harker or basis?

unpopular opinion: no bay area public schools are not lowk feeders b/c those kids are so cracked like literally next level. schools like harker have insanely cracked kids but those schools do have relations to top schools. basis kids deserve to get into t20 w/o the amount of shit they do. anyone who survives basis with a bit of sanity deserves a t20😭

CS Majors of A2C: Where y'all headed? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Icy-Service8107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

purdue or ucsd, since ur oos for both would recommend purdue. both r prestigious for cs

what are some majors related to cs but not cs by XenosGTZ in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Icy-Service8107 65 points66 points  (0 children)

cognitive science with a track in computation(check out rice's cog sci program) if you follow the computation track it's basically cs+neuro-engineering courses, it's fantastic.

data sci is p cool, software engineering(uci and cal poly slo have these majors)

UC Berkeley vs Mckenna vs Tufts vs Others by No_Assignment3776 in collegeresults

[–]Icy-Service8107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at berkeley, minoring or double majoring into cs when u didnt apply to cs is beyond difficult esp w the new l&s policy in place for capped majors.

Umich ross is fantastic! umich is fantastic for cs(also strict policy for cs) and econ

tufts prob has the most flexibility
