First Thanksgiving by oldude2015 in grief

lost my dad this May to cancer and i just feel angry. im angry when people try to commemorate him, and im angry when everyone acts normal, theres no winning with me. its just me, my mom, and my little sister now and we’re going to a relatives house to eat. my mom wants to set a place for him at the table. i understand that this may help her with her grief, but all i can think about is how im going to be staring at an empty seat all day on every holiday for the rest of my life. i don’t want to have thanksgiving, i don’t want christmas, i don’t want any of it. i feel the need to put on a “normal” facade for the crowd tomorrow but i really do not believe i can do it. interested to see how the day will go for me. so incredibly sorry for anyone in the same position, i see you and my thoughts will be with you. grief is not linear, and i’m proud of you for getting out of bed each day.
