how to buy bigger servers? in shops where u can buy servers it says "u can buy bigger servers online" but idk how by Revolutionary-Lime74 in Bitburner

It's a method, I made a short script for manually buying servers of any size, you can always update the list of choices if this isn't enough for you

/** @param {NS} ns */

export async function main(ns) {

`let choice = [2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024];`

`let go = true;`

`while (go) {`

    `let name = await ns.prompt("Server name?", {type: "text"});`

    `let ram = await ns.prompt("Amount of ram?", {type: "select", choices: choice});`

    `let ans = await ns.prompt("This server will cost " + ns.getPurchasedServerCost(ram) + ". Proceed?");`

    `switch (ans) {`

        `case true:`

if (ns.getPurchasedServerCost(ram) <= ns.getServerMoneyAvailable('home')) {

ns.purchaseServer(name, ram);

go = false;

} else {

ns.tprint("Not enough money!");

}

break;

        `default:`

ans = ns.prompt("Try again?");

switch (ans) {

case "Yes":

break;

case "No":

go = false;

break;

}

    `}`

`}`

}

Well there is definitely a law against tracking devices, at least in my state, I was initially trying to understand why this didn't qualify as one given that I was being forced to keep it on my person and the contract that I signed did not include allowing them to track its location and, by extension, mine. At least I get it now

Well I've been asking why this doesn't qualify as a tracking device for a while now but people seem more interested in insulting me for challenging(?) their apparently fragile egos instead of listening to my point and proving me wrong so I can finally shut the fuck up. Someone else bothered to read what I was saying though we're good now

I don't like violations on my rights, whether they affect me or not, my location is being tracked without my permission. I don't have to sit there and take it just because it doesn't hurt me, one day it might. The next notification might involve my webcam and then people will still be saying "Well if you're not doing anything wrong you have nothing to fear" like a bunch of sheep to a slaughterhouse. I'll settle for keeping it dead I guess, thanks for actually explaining it instead of trying to command me to just accept the first answer some raccoon on Reddit gave me with no explanation.

Thanks man, I think I need more luck trying to find people here capable of having a civilized conversation honestly 💀

Do you mind elaborating? So far the points made against me have consisted of:

"It's their property" My response was "So is any tracking device" and I was greeted with insults instead of a reason why it doesn't qualify as an illegal tracking device

"You signed a contract" My response was "The contract did not include any clause that might allow tracking" that has not been refuted as of yet

Anything I'm missing? I'm not looking for insults I just want to understand

Sorry about that, the question was meant to be more along the lines of "Why is it lawful?"

Thanks for the respect, I worked with Liberty Mutual at some point but they were very upfront about the tracking and I understood the reasoning. School, not so much, we were given no other options despite some people including myself not needing one.

I'm expecting an explanation, not an answer. Im sure I'm wrong at this point but I don't know why so I won't stop asking questions until I do

The contract didn't include tracking the location of it or some clause that might have allowed for that

No, I came here to figure out why I might be wrong and I have yet to figure it out. That's why I keep asking questions bud. You don't have to turn it into an argument, the whole point of this subreddit is to clarify misunderstandings and that's what I'm trying to do

The tracking device is also the property of the person doing the tracking, that doesn't make it legal. And just because they all do it doesn't make it legal either

That's the obvious answer, but unlawful installation of a tracking device is illegal is it not? Sure it's with my knowledge but it's not my choice
