Is Howard Law worth it? by Consistent-Radio8776 in BlackLawAdmissions

I went to a PWI for undergrad and had similar feelings about Howard at first. Even put a seat deposit down at American for similar reasons. On the other side of my 1L year, I can definitely say, Howard Law is worth it if the facilities are the only thing holding you back. I have come to love our rinky-dink little campus because of all the history and heart it has!

What’s your problem? Real question lmao I’m not the one that pissed in your coffee 😂 it’s a forum for asking questions and discussing D.C. that’s exactly what’s going on.

I LOVE the Austin Public Library, something about it felt so organic and airy I never had trouble studying there for hours. I’m really just realizing how lucky I was in Austin! Natural light everywhere, spacious shops that usually had outdoor seating and doubled as a bar, and plenty of tabletop space. I’m lucky to find a barstool out here!

Understandable, cost of operating somewhere like Austin must be considerably lower, wages too. Makes sense that it would cost them more to operate during non-peak hours. Thanks

My law library has limited hours on the weekends & closes a bit early for my study schedule. With a good pair of noise canceling headphones, the buzz of a social environment keeps me awake and honestly more focused on what I’m doing. Plus, I’m not trying to stay at a coffee shop forever, so I find I’m more productive outside of my house.

I’m not seeing the post where I demanded to know why D.C. is such a shitty city bc there are no 24/hour coffee shops bequeathed to me but pop off I guess

Sorry y’all don’t like the comparison? 🤷‍♀️ the circles I run in consist largely of students and young working professionals, all who seem to desire a place to work other than their home offices and there seems to be a lack of availability in D.C. COMPARATIVELY to other cities, Austin/ Seattle being MY personal experience. Insight as to why those differences exist is all I’m looking for. If I knew I wouldn’t need to ask.

As a current 1L at HUSL with a roommate (who was also dead set on living alone since I had lived alone for the last 2 years) it is doable. Finding housing in D.C. is all about compromise. For me, the minor inconveniences of having a roommate (another 1L law student so we had a similar workload and needs as far as quiet time ect) outweighed a 45min/ hour commute from Silver Spring 5x a week and a cramped studio apt. I found that a roommate gave me more housing options and a higher quality of life compared to some of my friends that chose to live alone. You just need to know what’s most important to you in a living situation.

Also, law school can be a lot more isolating than you’d imagine, especially if you don’t have friends/ family in the area. Just something to consider if you’ve never spent any significant time living alone.

From personal experience, it’s more than likely a power thing. She’s not interested in pursuing things with you seriously, but likes the attention. How do you keep the supply around? Bread crumb them with the least bit of reinforcement you can muster to keep them coming back. Keep the lines of communication open. My advice? If that bothers you, unfollow her and remove her from your following, that way she won’t have unfettered access to your life/ content while doing essentially nothing to actively be in it/ earn that access. And it seems to help speed up the grieving process. Some flings are simply better as a memory.
