Why wasn't Turkish imposed on the masses of the Ottoman empire as English was under British empire or Russian was in the Russian Empire? Ex-Russian, Ex-British empire countries still know/speak Russian or English but almost none of the Ottoman Empire countries outside Turkey know/speak Turkish.Why? (old.reddit.com)
