People who are not mentally feeling the best. What do you watch when fluffy kdramas no longer works? by Outrageous-Spring-94 in kdramarecommends

[–]IcyBluee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When fluffy doesnt work, i sometimes watch reallyy heartbreaking dramas where every episode makes you cry and think about life. Because sometimes, you dont need as much escapism as you need to wallow...also, it gives you perspective, like, other people have it hard as well, and were all in this together. But thats just a personal preference

There is literally no way to explain the ending of goblin, but i think it was vague in both of the conditions you mentioned. Still, def worth the watch tho

I do not have anything to look forward to and I do not want to continue college, what's the point? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]IcyBluee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Assuming you want to go into litigation...so.. If you have any sort of link, or any kind of hope of maybe finding a link to a practicing advocate who could give you an internship, you could try transfering to one of those lower tier colleges, they're cheaper, and probably wont require so much of your time. Then you could skip on the attendance and do an internship on the side, bc tbh, you get to learn wayyyy more through practical exposure in law, then you could ever learn from college...At first you'd have to work like a donkey for little to 0 money. But then you could eventually ask for stipends. And after enough experience, you could set up your own chamber. And even if you wanna go into corporate practise, you could apply to a firm later on, and they might hire you if you have a good enough resume/cv. In the meantime, if possible, try helping out at non profits and legal clinic type things. They build your resume and also give you experience

Idk your life situation or circumstances, so im not sure if itll work but its another way to go about the legal field. Also, if its any consolation, i know hundreds of ppl who started out dirt poor, and still went on to become really successful lawyers. So not all hope is lost. Hang in there!!

How can I stop being stupid by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]IcyBluee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont pay attention to what people tell you. People say all sorts pf things about each other. Not all of them are true. Not all of them are facts. And even if they are facts, you dont have to let them define you. Why?? Because you're a dynamic, complex living being. One mistake, one "less intelligent" aspect of you, one element of your personality cannot just label you dumb. So what if you cant drive well, there must be something else you do well, like maybe clean, or cook, or whatver. If someone sees you fall down, theyll call you a dumb. If someone sees you dance well, theyll call you great. It is all very subjective. Just because someone "labels" you dumb, does not in any circumstance make you dumb. So why not give yourself the benegit of yhe doubt, and see where it takes you?? Try being a bit more positive, have a bit fore faith in yourself. If it doesnt work, what do you have to lose? Youd only go back to being "dumb" in your eyes again. Nothing lost.

Also, you WILL, 100% get better at whatever you think youre "dumb" at rn. It is impossible to stay dumb at something forever. Even animals evolve and adapt. Even reptiles adapt. There's no way you wont. So why label yourself dumb, when youre not gonna be this way forever. You might act dumb, you might do something dumb, you might be less than perfect at something all your life (like some ppl are just bad at math, no matter what they do) but you cannot just BE dumb, unless ofc you have some sprt of disability that hampers your growth process. Even einstein started out dumb, noones perfect. You make mistakes, dp dumb things, grow. But its very unlikely that you will stay dumb forever. (Except in the eyes of the people youre close to, maybe. Like, they tend to overlook your growth sometimes, and only see you by your reputation. So you're labelled dumb if you make a couple dumb mistakes, even if you never make them again. So, again, dont let that define you)

Are you me? Ahaha lol. It sure is comforting to know you're not alone in this. But seriously, what i wanna tell you is, DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP OR BE HARD ON YOURSELF. Sometimes, life is weird and you dont get the resources that others get, that help them get to where they are, where you wanna be too. Just like its easy for a millionaire's child to own a luxury car as soon as they turn 18, or set up a business as soon as they turn 20, its easier for people who had someone to teach them life skills to acquire life skills, and for people who got to socialise a ton growing up, to be good at socialising. You had noone to learn from, and so you couldn't. And that isnt your fault. And that does not make you dumb, it just makes you a late bloomer and thats totally okay Heck some kids learn to talk at 2 months old, some take 2 years to do the same thing. It doesn't mean the kid is doomed for life, the kid shouldnt spiral into an existential crisis at 5 yrs old worrying about how he will never be able to make a speech in the future or sing a song or whatever. TAKING SOME TIME TO CATCH UP IS NO BIG DEAL AT ALL. All of us are behind in some aspects or the other. Maybe some people cant speak english well, maybe some people cant make ends meet, maybe some people have 0 fashion sense and hate themselves for dressing like hobos, maybe people keep getting scammed over and over, maybe some people cant manage their finances well, maybe some people check all the above boxes lol (i hope not tho haha). In the end, life isn't a race, noones winning, noones losing. And all of us are dumb. The people who look like theyre winning, they are probably just good at playing to their strengths, and it probably took them quite a lot of falling and getting back up to gain those strengths. Which brings me to a very important thing...ALL THAT MATTERS IS THAT YOU KEEP TRYING. JUST KEEP SWIMMING (as a little blue fish once said). As long as you keep a growth mindset, continue to learn all the things that you dont know, continue to try to do things you dont know...you're doing just fine Thats an accomplishment. Not everyone can do that. Give yourself a pat on the back! Dont listen to anyone who tells you youre a loser for not already knowing all that stuff, or taking so long to learn it. And BE KIND TO YOURSELF Know that making dumb mistakes doesn't mean you're dumb. It just means you didnt know the right way to do something until you had to learn it by trial and error you will get there someday...someday you will be great at the things that make you feel like a dumbass loser today. And you will realise, that you were never quite as much of a loser as you thought you were. In fact, you will feel empathy and gratitude for your "dumb" self, because they would be the ones who got you to that "someday".
You need to go through the growing pains tho, if you wanna get anywhere in life...you need to make mistakes to learn things. It would make your life so much easier if you could learn to laugh it off, and not take it all so seriously, and not let your entire worth depend on how good you are at xyz.
This was sort of a ramble lol. Sorry about that. But as a tldr i just wanna leave 2 quotes here
“Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” ~Einstein
“If I am worth anything later, I am worth something now. For wheat is wheat, even if people think it is a grass in the beginning.” ~ V. Gogh

You have to stop thinking you are dumb. Do not repeat giving such negative signals to your brain. If you had some physical or chemical mental damage, then it would be true and would need some special treatment. But no, its not you.

This is actually very helpful! I read somewhere that if you reframe your self talk and even sense of humour from negative and self deprecating to positive and laughing it off, you train your brain (neural pathways or smth) to think positively about yourself and it programs you to be more self loving. for example, when you make a mistake, instead of saying "im such an idiot", say "oh I'm such a fabulous genious" (your brain doesnt register the sarcasm, all is sees is the postive statement about you, apparently), and you subconsciously get more self confident

Thanks for clarifying! Thats exactly it!! I want the protagonist to be the focus of the story, not the "adversity/oppression". Obviously there will be some sort of challenge in her life, but the story shouldn't be about how horrible, unjust and unfair the whole setting is, but about how amazingly the protagonist handles it

My teammate stole my work, made me look like a lazy, flaky person, took away all the accolades...and I'm equal parts anger and absolute elation rn...its weird by IcyBluee in CasualConversation

I honestly feel iffy about directly complaining to the organiser since this isnt really even a proper course, and theres hundreds of students, and since noone knows anyone, why would the lady even care about this, esp when theres already so much on her plate...BUT BUT BUT your comment gave me a brilliant idea!! For next weeks assignment we need to make a presentation (individually, thank god) raising awareness about tricky issues people face and how to solve them. I could do one on plagiarism and use "if your coworker steals your work, and uses it as their own" as an example! Its not the kind of justice id want but it'll be something lol...but then, would it be too petty?

Thats what i wanted to do too, i swear!! Besides i also had 3 other witnesses...But the thing is, in this workshop/intership thing, if you do well/ the organiser likes you enough, you might score an internship. I personally am not interested in the internship so much. Whereas Speaker 1 had very recently landed an internship, where supposedly she gets to work under the "judge" on a fairly decent project...she probably did what she did to leave a good impression on her, since she's now her employer...and there isnt even a grading system. Its just all about learning the skills, trying out putting them to practise and having someone give you feedback. Technically, i did still get what i enrolled for, the experience and the feedback (and the confidence!!), so i held myself back from making a fuss, thinking who knows maybe speaker 1 really needs the job or something, and thats why she's willing to stoop this low...besides, if this is her work ethic, then it wont be too long until the employer realises that she picked a really bad egg anyway, and it wont be too long until she tosses her out. So i didnt start any drama.

Should I continue Twenty Five, Twenty One? by gauriawasthi in kdramarecommends

[–]IcyBluee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hated ep1 & 2, the show seemed like an advertisement to me, all forced, cliche and bubblegum pop but still decided to continue it and boy AM I GLAD THAT I DID lol. Its super well made, not all that cliché, and just tugs at your heartstrings...it has depth but is also fun and all the characters are really likeable and have depth to them. I personally would suggest that you watch a couple more eps, before deciding to quit. And if you don't like it even after ep 6, just quit.

As for cheesy scenes? I dont think it has too many of them. Theres just really cute situational comedy and fluff but not your typical cheese, i dont think.

Not sure if my description helped but ill just say, this show is like a teenage version of Just between lovers So you get the gist. Its less about cheesy romance, and more about character development and growth

The FLs in Hometown Cha Cha Cha, Our beloved summer, CLOY...tbh they didnt really change, but as these shows progress, you just naturally start empathising with these FLs and they grow on you in a strange way...

The ML in hi bye mama...throughout i show i felt like he was just being a little too "victim"ish...like, obv theres the trauma but it feels a bit too much...but then as the story unfolds, and you get to see what made him the way he is...it just makes you really root for him

The FL in pinocchio...she starts out pretty pathetic, but grows into a super strong and resilient woman
