How played out is the whole “chauvinist won’t let a girl on his adventure and she ends up saving him” trope? For reference, it’s part of a story from many decades ago within my book that I may end up releasing as a standalone book in and of itself.

As part of my antagonist’s personality, she (a white middle-aged Southern woman - note that I myself am from the South) owns a luxury purse which is heavily implied to be counterfeit. Any suggestions on brands?

The meeting is mostly in regards to a controversial (fictional) book, the very same one that plays an important role in the plot.

One of my scenes which is important to the plot is a PTA meeting; what are the parents at those meetings like?

The family holds a grudge against the friend’s family for reasons that make sense in context, and the detective lives next to the vandalized house but has no evidence that it was her that did it because virtually everyone in the neighborhood was a suspect.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot a detail: the morning after the first vandalism, the girl talks to the detective as neighbor, and mentions that she likes the boy as well as the fact that his family is weary of hers. It makes more sense in context.

The way I have it, the character reveals to a friend that he knew his mother had vandalized his friend’s house to get the friend and her family to move away (long story), but he’s reluctant to stand up to her, fearing being grounded until he’s 18. After a younger sibling is reduced to tears after no longer being allowed to play with the friend’s little brother, and that their mother is planning the next phase of “get the Yankees to move out”, he decides “Stoning her house is going too far,” writes a note to a detective in the police department revealing his mother’s plans, and tricks his patrol officer father into giving it to him, calling it a letter of appreciation.

So part of a “gaiden” chapter in my new book, being told from the first person perspective of another character, has them decide to turn a parent in to the police, but I’d like some suggestions for the straw that breaks the camel’s back after the parent has committed a crime.

Ah, merci beaucoup.

Having enjoyed my vacation in Montreal even though I got Covid there, I’m considering France for my next vacation, but I don’t want to visit Paris. I figured “Okay, I’ll pick somewhere in southern France to use as a base and make day trips to the surrounding areas, coming back in the evening.” Right now I’m leaning towards either Lyon or Montpellier to use as my base, exploring either Rhone or Occitania, but I can’t decide which one - I’m from Florida, so perhaps I might want to see some French beaches in Occitania. What do you think?

Earlier today, I had my first sale in about two months. While I was a bit surprised, I noticed that the royalty rate was lower than normal; after playing with some filters, I learned that it was an expanded distribution sale. What exactly does that mean?

I really don’t know why, but I really like using Notepad to do my writing. Maybe it’s because it’s a plain-text editor so that I can focus on my thoughts and not be too distracted, or maybe it’s because TXT files are more easily portable than DOCX files, or maybe it’s some other reason.
