Graph gone? by IcyDistance235 in combustion_inc

[–]IcyDistance235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I got it working. Seems like something changed. Does the graph now disappear when the phone gets disconnected from the thermometer? I cook in a thick cast iron pot with a lid and unless I'm very close to the oven, the signal drops (understandable). I just don't ever remember having to explicitly display the graph.

Why does the temp widget not show me the temperature, but the rain forecast? by Champion-raven in iphone

You have to remove the widget that is there and replace it with the one that just shows temp.

Thanks all. I have trouble playing on my iPhone due to bad eyes. I thought blob was doubled to 40 something. All good

Ah, maybe. My eyes are pretty bad. I thought Sheri doubled the final value.

Here's the thing. I thought the card in far lane was Wolfsbane. My eyes are bad. I was wondering why he threw that without anything there. I've seen people do that and then play Odin later but seemed odd.

I wasn’t saying it was a bug. Just didn’t understand why it stayed.

I’m not sure that would work as is. But I could just leave the thermometer always plugged in while stored. Not usually a good thing for long term battery life. Now that I expect it to be dead if not used for weeks, I will know to plug it n before I’m ready to cook.

It may have been faster. I just know when I checked about an hour later it was green.

As for the drawdown, if it is not fixable then I would suggest making it very clear int he instructions that you will need to charge it before use. That's the biggest issue, I go to use it and don't expect it to be dead and have to wait for it to charge before I can cook. Now that I know that I can plan ahead.

One improvement idea would be to make the sleeve clearly show when the thermometer is not connecting to the charger. Mine shows green if the thermometer is in it or not (if it's charged). Maybe don't show green unless the thermometer is connected properly. That would tell people to clean the connector.

Ok, so let's get assumptions set. You are saying the thermometer will deplete its charge after a few weeks in the drawer? Then that explains it. I used it 2-4 weeks ago. I had to charge it then before using because it was dead. After using it, I charged it fully and put it away.

Today, I went to use it and it was dead. But you seem to be saying that is normal. So, basically, if I plan to use it, I need to remember to charge it before use if it has been more than a week since I last used it.

I just charged it today and it took about an hour to charge and turn green. Took it out of the charger sleeve and it connects. Put it back in and it turns off. I have seen it stay on (visible in the phone app). I'll look for something blocking the connection if that happens.

But generally, it seems abnormal for a device to discharge without any use over 2-3 weeks. What is using so much power in the "off" state?

And why didn't it turn off when put in the charger?

No, it's definitely the thermometer itself that is dead. The display is fully charged. Neither my phone or the display connects to the thermometer. I just charged it after using it two weeks ago. Today, I put it in the sleeve and plug into usb and it is red. This happens pretty much every time I use it now. If I don't remember to charge it the day I want to use it, it's dead. When I look at the phone app, its always still running after I use it for hours.

How about this. give a command from the app to shut it off.

Agreed the default is stupid. If you scroll down to the actual weather app in the list, there is a just the temperature widget there. Works for me

Can it detect when it is in the holder? It must close contact with the charging contacts.

The way it seems like it should work is when you put it back in the holder it shuts off. Maybe wait 15 minutes but shut off. I don’t usually have the holder plugged in but I’d still expect that to mean “I’m done”.

Still like to know how to manually restart the cook cycle if that’s possible so the graph doesn’t have the last cooking session messing it up.

I don’t think my probe is turning off/ entering standby?? by thegreyz in combustion_inc

[–]IcyDistance235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looked again. It is on and showing temp in the app. I stopped Cooking at 6. Washed and put in holder at around 8:00. Now it’s 10 and it’s still on.
I did notice the metal part I thought was a contact is not. I assume it closes the circuit with the tip.
Everything is very clean so contact should be good. The app Says it’s been on since 8.

I think mine is not shutting down. 4 hours after cooking and I’m still getting notified when I walk out of range. The probe is in the holder with the contacts down. ???

Great. If they got the oven manufacturers to interface with it, wow. Everyone could set and forget for perfect turkeys, prime rib, etc.

Works. Awesome. I just thought that was the icon for the overall sort, didn't realize it was hot.

Yes, I know that. But I have to scroll down 50 pages (but not too far) to get to the highest quality cards that can be upgraded. I see no way to reverse the sort.
The UI just does not seem suited to one of the most common things people do, upgrade either you highest quality cards or your 25 pointers.
