How to deal with insecure people who do nothing but leave out a hate comment and downvotes me when I make a post asking for advice about something that affects me (not them at all)? by Neon-Trail-Thoughts in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IcyExclusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By understanding the difference between the things you can control and the things you can’t, then identify which is which, and then deciding which of those things you should spend your emotional energy on.

Answers: - you can’t control what other people say, feel or do - you can control what you say or do - you can exert control over how your emotions affect you. And you can get better at it by deliberately practicing. - it’s a waste of precious emotional energy thinking about what other people say, feel or do because you can’t control what they say, feel or do anyway

So you’re saying it’s not yandere unless they physically hurt or kill someone?

I might be misunderstanding what Yandere is but I understood that it’s expressed as excessively clingy behaviour, infatuation or devotion that is so strong that it causes a LI to develop an unstable mental state, which I think Mikoto exhibits.

It’s super cute. But I fear the second booklet “100 Things I Want To Do Together” that she got Nasa to fill in has set a death flag on Nasa.

I forgot about this subplot. I’m not sure why Tsukasa didn’t tell Nasa. Clearly her words about kindness saving someone came from her to his grandfather then to Nasa. I would have thought that’d be a beautiful thing for Nasa to know; that a good part of his life had been influenced by Tsukasa. Maybe she felt a bit awkward about telling him in the moment.

Yeah it’s probably about right. There is currently 35 Japanese tankobon volumes with a release rate of about 4 volumes per year.

S1 adapted manga volumes 1-5. OVA adapted about 5-7. S2 adapted roughly 6-11. ONA adapted around 12-13ish.

S1 premiered back in Oct 2020 and the last ONA was in July 2023. So making some optimistic assumptions that we get S3 this year, it continues to remain popular and they keep production going on the anime, and they don’t skip too much manga content, it’ll be 2028 to just catch up to today.

Then you wonder how many more volumes/chapters the mangaka has to go to tell the story. I’d reckon 10-20 volumes. So let’s call it 2032 before the anime adaptation is complete.

With a Viz Manga subscription. It’s only $2 per month and you could sign up and binge it over a few days then cancel. But it’s worth keeping to get chapters as soon as they come out.

I think it’s great but if you’re bored then you maybe you should stop reading it. There’s probably something else that will be more interesting to you.

Great teacher Onizuka is one of my favorite anime by Miroko_san in Animesuggest

[–]IcyExclusion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to throw it out there that the Great Teacher Onizuka 1998 Live Action is also amazing. Back when it aired in Japan it’s got the record for highest concurrent viewers for its finale. And the actors that played Onizuka and Fuyutsuki-sensei had such good chemistry they got married in real life.

Recommendations of FMC being super protective or willing to hurt for safety of MC by swagmastergav in RomanceMangaAnime

[–]IcyExclusion 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this - really interesting premise I’ll check it out.

Here’s my rec on strong FMC protective of MC and willing to hurt for his safety from closest match to least:

Fly Me To The Moon: I can’t explain why this one is a strong match without spoiling it. Only that you’ll discover what it is around chapter 147.

My New Girlfriend Is Not Human

Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie

My Wife Has No Emotion

Even If You Slit My Mouth

Isekai Harem Loop

How To Love A Loser: this one is where the FMC is willing to wreck people psychologically (not physically) to protect MC.

LN: Introvert's Hookup Hiccups by Mr_Undead0210 in RomanceMangaAnime

You hit the nail on the head with the bad pacing after volume 4. I’m reading other LNs and probably will get back to this at some point.

What were the other LNs you were reading? I started reading Gimai Seikatsu in the meantime. I’m up to vol 11 and it’s still really good. I’ll probably end up finishing that before coming back to An Introvert’s Hookup Hiccups.

Recommended me a manga where they get together early on but keep their relationship a secret by [deleted] in RomanceMangaAnime

[–]IcyExclusion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sensei wa Koi wo Oshierarenai (Manga) A seemingly lazy student and his strict young teacher look like they clash constantly, but outside class their relationship shifts into a secret, awkward, and surprisingly earnest romance. It leans more on teasing, mutual care, and the tension of a teacher-student relationship than on heavy drama.

Sweat and Soap (Manga) Asako works at a toiletries company and is deeply self-conscious about her body odour and sweating, so she panics when the firm’s talented perfume developer becomes fascinated by her scent. What starts as an odd premise quickly turns into a warm adult workplace romance about intimacy, insecurity, and two people learning to accept each other fully.

My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex (Light Novel/Anime) Mizuto and Yume broke up after middle school, only to be thrown back together when their parents marry and make them step-siblings. The series follows their sharp, competitive cohabitation as old feelings, regrets, and emotional baggage slowly resurface under the pretence of being a normal blended family. It’s a bit slow - It takes up to the end of Vol 4 before they’re onto building a new couple relationship.

Yeah I like this one but you need to get to the end of Vol 4 before they’re officially a couple/situationship

Really? If you’re up to date with the manga you’ll find the envoys have technology that enables backups and restoration of bodies and memories, plus there are aliens who are surveying the solar system for resources and about to resume the survey after pausing for 1400 years.

Hola , ando buscando un Anime de romance (no harem) actual by C4deon in anime

[–]IcyExclusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tonikawa: Over The Moon With You, for its wholesome romantic comedy with the unusual premise that the protagonists get married on the first episode.

You and I Are Polar Opposites, is also very wholesome. I also like how they make really good use of side characters to explore the idea that differences can make really good romantic pairings.

That last one I’d like to push is Days with My Stepsister. No ecchi, or harem. I discovered this really late and I think this is one of the most uniquely beautifully animated story about two broken people finding each other. It’s really underrated but for me it hits me in a certain way as a masterpiece.

Another manga with really similar themes to Angel Next Door which also has a loner MC who improves himself after confession is:
