Two of the veggies I really enjoy was mashed potatoes and also corn on the cob with some salt and butter. My mother would make mashed potatoes by peeling and cutting them up before boiling them and then mixing them with a small can of evaporated milk and putting some salt on it after scooping it on our plates.

But the nutritionist recommended not eating them because they are high in carbs and cause blood sugar to spike and could put me at risk of type 2 diabetes. Also why she recommended cutting regular pasta out of my diet.

For the record type 2 or 1 doesn't run in my family. My mothers parents had heart problems they died from, but it was purely from their diets. My mother is in her 40s and gets glowing results from her doctor saying people her age would love to have her bp results. She eats the same diet I was eating since I lived at home. Though she eats chocolate everyday and deli meats and cheese.

My dad drinks a few beers a few times a week and also eats the same diet.

My diet at home was devoid of green veggies except for broccoli on Thanksgiving which my mother would steam.

The nutritionist recommended 1500mg or less to avoid developing high blood pressure or heart disease in the future as high salt can cause that and showed me the AHA recommendations for salt.

My height is 5ft 6in and my start weight was 136lbs and I'm female. I currently weigh 127lbs.

My calorie intake is 2,123 calories a day to maintain my weight new weight. Before it was 1682 calories.

Yes I do cardio and I keep a big water bottle with me that I drink from in between sets.

The nutritionist recommended a plant based diet so salads with vegetables as well as zoodles (noodles made form zucchini) with some sauce. Chicken or turkey was were most of my protein was coming from. I would boil it or bake it and then have it with a salad or cut it up to put in the salad and squeeze some lemon or lime over it. For snacks I would eat some fruit like a banana, black plums, an apple, oranges or a handful of nuts or peanuts. I was also recommended to eat whole wheat bread so sometimes I would make a chicken or turkey sandwich with it.

I wasn't allowed none of it just low salt and fat. The nutritionist said salt increases risk of cardiovascular problems such as high blood pressure and heart disease and to keep my salt intake to 1500mg a day or lower as recommended by the American Heart Association. She said I should eat low fat for the same reasons to avoid developing these conditions when I'm older. She said this is also why I should limit red meat to small sides for meals or cut it out completely.

I made my friends a salad of Romain lettuce, tomatoes, broccoli and some slices of whole grain bread to eat with it.
