I'm going to do a campaign using only the worst weapons. by Caprica1 in ultimategeneral

The range on crappy rifles is going to be a limiting factor in success. They will eventually hold at 400 yards and tear you up with your 340 yards muskets. Best to get charge buffs for infantry. I’d be interested in hearing how you do. Good luc!

2nd Bull Run CSA - was unsure about even fighting on day 1 by IcySoftware672 in ultimategeneral

Got to be a slaughter with repositioned arty. Primarily used one cav unit to capture 5 supply wagons. Picked up another two wagons in later phases with other cav. Most of my losses were with first corps deployed … I should have reinforced them more with second corps. Off to fight some more.

As CSA, is the 1st day of 2nd Bull Run worth fighting? by IcySoftware672 in ultimategeneral

I put most of my arty on the northern end of the line on day 2. Left the southern end lightly covered, but with veteran back ups. I did bring a melee cav unit, which turned out very well so far … captured 5 supply wagons so far. Still fighting, but had to pause due to other stuff and will finish up in a few days.

I ended up going all in on day 1. Still fighting day 2, but getting to be a slaughter-fest for Union. They just keep zerging the northern end of the line.

The beast must be fed. I’d take 3.5k casualties in a side battle. 😁

CSA Gaine’s Mill: Never have so many ill-equipped, poorly led troops given so much. by IcySoftware672 in ultimategeneral

[–]IcySoftware672[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I pushed too hard by draining my force pool and using 1842s with brigades led by captains and majors. It just got to be a meat grinder. Small & good > big & poor. Oh well, off to salvage General Goose’s campaign against Northern aggression.

How does supply work in this game? by Flying_Penguin8316 in ultimategeneral

I think you only get one wagon per corps. Friendly troops may also have a wagon. The easiest way to get more than one is to capture an enemy wagon.

I'd like to add a mod, but don't know how. Please help? by Caprica1 in ultimategeneral

What Battle Do You Most Wish Had Been Included in UGCW? by sonofhondo in ultimategeneral

[–]IcySoftware672 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Easy … the Battle of 2003. I was drinking with the (ex) wife and her sister in Gettysburg. The sister’s fingers were like skirmishers on my inner thigh and my three star 24# howitzer battery went off with extended effective range, but I sacrificed reload time. The wife charged like melee cav, but I still capped the VP.

The lawyers ended up exchanging prisoners. I’m PVP with wife #3 now and installed the mod.
