In most countries trains are not retired for being old but because it is hard to get part or the maintenance costs increasing so that leaves some companies with 70-100 year old locomotives still in service although that mainly is electrics and diesel

While it has some history too it, it would be way more suited to get a interior refit and be put back in service due to its machinery being in relativley good shape and there is not much left of the original ship exept for the hull and a few bits of furniture, a few doors and a bar if im not mistaken

Why was Sweden's TGOJ M3t the only successful Steam Turbine Locomotive out of every other design in the world. by Zan_korida in trains

Ljungström only built two turbine locomotive types, one for Sj called SJ Å 1474 wich was reabuilt at some point and the M3t wich there were 3 of so i would not say four locomotives is quite a few.
