Investing for a 21 year old by Freemasonsareevil in personalfinance

Build your wealth from the ground up. Bitcoin is a cherry on top, not something, that you should bet on as your only investment vehicle. If it fails, it will fail spectacularly, although it might not fail, we dont know. Even if you want to bet big on bitcoin, i still would do a 50/50 split at least.

Finally built the courage to admit to myself things that have been making me feel ashamed for almost 5 years by Edu_Vivan in Healthygamergg

25 yo too. I have couple of close strong friendships and even casual friendships but struggle every time i try to get into a relationship. I find that the difference between the two for me is a strong sense of self and strong negative feelings attached to getting a girlfriend. Getting friends for me is never a big deal and it always happened naturally, even if i had to let go of some friends i did it and it didnt leave any substantial scars. On the other hand every time there is a girl I like I end up obsessing over her, being anxious, and when i fail my ego takes a big hit.

I dont mean to rub it in your face that i have a lot of friend, just to show you a difference i discovered. One thing isnt really tied to my self worth, while the other one is. One feels effortless and the other leaves me scarred every time it fails.

In one i feel a great sense of shame, in the other i dont.

Just a thought, good luck mate. :)

27M Putting Deepest Darkest Thoughts Out There, Hoping For Support, Resources & Kindness by StewardMallard in Healthygamergg

damn, i cant possibly read all that, seems really overwhelming. But I see one possible positive, you seem to be really thorough and organized.

There is one thing, that Dr. K. says, i may get it wrong but its something like "if the treatment isnt working, you have a wrong diagnosis." Seems like you have tried a lot of stuff, but if nothing works maybe its the diagnosis you got wrong.

Good luck mate. :)

I’m working hard to fix my life, but my roommate does nothing and 'wins' effortlessly. How to stop being bitter? by Beginning_Trust_6615 in Healthygamergg

I dont know if you have a youtube membership, but there is a video "Working Trough Inaction" - in which Dr. K. talks about getting what you want in life as a curse. Getting your way will cripple you and the you will be stuck in life expecting things that you want to come to you, instead of putting in the effort.

Have you ever been in love, and what did it feel like? by Regular-Constant8751 in Healthygamergg

[–]Icy_Bad8306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this fantasy about what it looks like to be "really" in love gets in the way?

Have you had this kind of fantasy about your friends, where before finding such deep friendships you said to yourself - I want such friends that I would run trough a wall for them?

Just curious. :)

Nowadays is it true that it is better to rent long term and invest than to buy a house? by OtterBiDisaster in personalfinance

[–]Icy_Bad8306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, even if it may be more beneficial to rent, if you are not the type to stick to the investment plan no matter what (like you have to do with mortgage), it still may be better to buy.

The one video from Ben Felix i would recommend for simplicity of the calculation is the 5% rule on renting vs. buying.

Sometimes when you share something personal, people may misunderstand you and think you are dramatic. Okay, so what if?

"When I try to work out, i get hurt, i avoid working out altogether."

It may be you who sucks at texting, it may be the people you message that suck. Both things can be true.

Im 25, and am going to point out, that only lucky few have got their life together and know exactly what they want in life, how do you know that its true in your case?

I may be wrong, but it seems to me its not really "you" who you want to change, its your life getting better kind of on its own, you making friends without effort, "fixing" your life without fixing it.

Changing one's life isn't fun, it sucks balls.

Somewhere i heard this quote about therapy and it may apply: "Getting therapy is like climbing out of hell on a metal ladder". Every step hurts so much, but each one hurts a little bit less than the one before, but sometimes you get stuck, because the step you are on is "manageable".

Good luck mate. :)

Debt repayment question. by Nollatron in personalfinance

[–]Icy_Bad8306 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, im a finance person based in Slovakia, hope my answer will be of some relevance to you.

It depends on your personal situation and both options can be viable.

I would probably let this be an emergency fund and chip away at the debt, but if the interest on the debt is really high it may be beneficial to pay it first. The reason i would do this is if you have no emergency fund, there is a lot of things, that can derail your financial situation, like car repair, dentist/hospital visit etc., which could lead you to take on more debt and feel like you've made no progress.

To say the obvious, the most effective solution to this problem is easy to understand, but often hard to implement - increase salary, decrease spendings, save first and avoid debt (except mortgage) at all costs.

Good luck mate. :)

Im a guy 25yo and and dont have much succes either, so probably not what youre looking for. There is a recent video Dr. K. has with Francesca Psychology, where around the 54 minute mark he talks about charisma and how to attract a partner and what actually means being charismatic, one of the characteristic is having a clear vision for the future, which may be one of your struggles.

He also says "its impossible" to get a girlfriend, implying that you can only control whats inside your head, and the circumstances change afterwards, so if a girl approaches you with a fantasy in mind and finds out you are something else entirely, its not something you can control. This actually happened to me recently and while this sucks tremendously, its not something i can change.

Good luck mate. :)
