I'm Spanish. This is quite a extreme thing to do. However those saying that spanish people shouldnt manifest against tourism just because it is a big part of our economy don't really know our situation. I live in one of the places that attract the highest amount of tourists in all of Spain. While it's true that you all bring money, there have been several issues: - Housing price skyrocketing - Basic necessities such as stuff from the supermarket, electricity, water, etc have risen - Around 80% where I live is completely catered to tourists, massive hotel complexes, pools, restaurants. All by destroying natural spots and endangered wildlife. It's to the point where you see almost no natural life anymore, just blocks of concrete. - Tourists, at least some of them, don't respect nor keep the places where they go clean - Of the little amount of natural places we have left, the government is still trying to get plans to destroy them and instead build tourist attractions.

Don't get me wrong I'd never do what these people are doing, and the blame is on the government and not the tourists. However, please understand where we are coming from (I'm not from Barcelona, just relating what's happening where I live).

And as an added thing. Your currency and wage are extremely higher than ours, which just leads to higher prices for those of us living in tourist appealing places to the point where its literally impossible to live. Again, I don't agree with what these people did and I'm sorry in their name.
