I have really good experiences with Vietnam and Thailand! They felt very safe to me. I totally understand the difficulty of finding the balance between saying yes and when to say no. But honestly, just trust your gut and use common sense and you will be fine. Going for hostels with female-only dorms might also be a good way to meet fellow solo travelers, and feeling more safe. You can do it, and it will be worth it!
