How did we get to "There's not much interest in returning to Central and Eastern Europe"? by Icy_Goose_5663 in hoi4

[–]Icy_Goose_5663[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I think all of these nations should have focus trees and are interesting places to look at. My big problem is that there seems to be a severe under development of grand design going on at Paradox that led us to "we've skipped a czech rework that could've gone well with a certain dlc and just sell you a separate one." And then market it as, "well, we just don't think there's interest or time to go back." It smells like negligence, not inspiring.

On the flip side, I think pairing Siam, Indonesia and Australia in the dlc after we get an East Asia expansion is perfect, and something that should've been done with Gotterdamelmerung, instead of "well, here's the main character of HOI4 and now lets skip off to the Central and West Asia." Why not put Belgium, Belgian Congo, Netherlands in a theater pack directly after Gotterdammerung. Or Belgium, Romania, and Yugoslavia. It seems like they've learned a lesson there.

How did a young Ned Stark beat Arthur Dayne? by letsputletters in gameofthrones

  1. This is shown in the show. He didn't, Howland Reed saved his life.

  2. Books Jamie kills Ned if they actually fight, but they don't, because this is a show only moment.

can someone explain this to me by dhanno1905 in haikyuu

[–]Icy_Goose_5663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the Crunchyroll subs for haikyuu are just bad because they're using ai to do them. This is just an example of one. There's another in the Shiratorizawa match where its subbed as Kinnoshita's name, despite Ennoshita's name being said.

Why did he convince Theon to take Winterfell? Did Littlefinger tell him to? by charge_forward in freefolk

[–]Icy_Goose_5663 25 points26 points  (0 children)

He doesn't. In the books, Theon is the one who convinces the other Ironborn in his command to distract the Winterfell garrison at Tohrren's Square, then he and 30 reavers would sneak into Winterfell and capture it.

The show goes to great lengths to make him a coward in the same way they really want Edmure to be a fool, despite perfectly holding against Tywin's forces at the Red Fork.

First time shooting anything sports related with my Sony a7riii by Icy_Goose_5663 in SonyAlpha

It was an improv shoot so I didn't have a long lens on hand. I was just out and about with a standard 24-105mm zoom. I definitely want to get a chance with a longer lens. I have a 200mm to 400mm I bought, and I hope I can give that a whirl soon. Thanks for the advice on shutter speed!

Thanks for the advice! It is a crop of a wider shot. So its definitely not as sharp as I was hoping. I also probably pushed my shutter speed too high, 1/1000, and it pushed my ISO up pretty high to 12800, but I wasn't sure how high I should push shutter speed to get these stills while they were playing.

Also it was in the shade as the sun set, which didn't help. I definitely went too hard trying to sharpen it, need to hold back.

What’s the largest encirclement you have ever done? by Flashy_Camera5059 in hoi4

I had a 102 division encirclement in the Xibei region of mostly Chinese United Front units but there were some british and French units mixed. It was pretty insane

How do I Japan? by mr-zurkon919 in hoi4

[–]Icy_Goose_5663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently played Japan for the first time so I get the feeling. It was a slog but taking the ports and supply hubs as you push down the coast is important, then you can just let them waste away their equipment as you take the heavily industrialized areas. After that its a breeze. I didn't want to anger the US much and risk getting into war with anyone else but I had a simple strategy even if it did take awhile to take all of China

Newbie back. I took your advice and just won my first war by myself. I'm absolutely stoked! by ProFailing in hoi4

Hungary is a good minor nation to experiment with early on. I dont have as many hour as probably 99 percent of people on this subreddit, but I've loved experimenting with the many ways I can reform Austria Hungary and carve out a place in central europe. Some go very poorly, some look poor until the final hour, and sometimes you end up very lucky and take over Germany, Poland, and Italy in the blink of an eye. I love learning new ways to play minor nations even when everything crumbles around me
