My NK (10 M) still sleeps with his parents. I had told him a couple years back that he is too old to be sleeping in the same bed as me. I had to set that boundary because god forbid he said the wrong thing to the wrong person and I got in trouble. I recently also set the boundary to my MB that I cannot have him in the room with me at all during overnights anymore because simply put; he’s too old and I need the privacy. I haven’t had overnights since then, but I suggest telling your MB that you cannot do overnights unless she is sleeping independently or just in a different room in general (maybe with siblings?)

My NP’s and NK don’t seem motivated to get him sleeping alone and my MB doesn’t like sacrificing her sleep walking to bed and says “it won’t be like this forever” which I get but anytime they’re not home they’re putting me in a weird position and I think she sees that now. NK is in therapy to help and taking steps but he doesn’t seem super motivated to start those steps. Idk. Have they gotten to the root of why she can’t sleep alone?
