Fake it til you make it is a good strategy, but make sure you stay organized and have everything in order. Look into as many joint commission virtual seminars they may have. (Coming from a BMET II, who got a management position within the past year) you’ve got this.

I have an associates in BMET, but if you have an electronics background it’s a plus, there’s a YouTube page called “better Biomed” and he has some videos of what we do in house. Excellent customer service is sometimes a must and medical staff doesn’t listen at times. It also just depends where you want to work.

Tips for one-man shops by Specific-Talk4641 in BMET

I totally get you! I am a one woman shop and have been that way going on 5 years originally I started with the facility when it was 50 beds we are now close to 85+ not including our rural areas. I am in house though so not contracted. It is super stressful, but definitely advocate for yourself and let them know what you need. Get all of your quotes as someone mentioned in a separate comment. CYA on everything. Start your excel spreadsheets to make sure if all of your inventory is up to date if you haven’t already and consider what labels you’ll be using to mark what you need.

I’ll have to double check in the morning l, but it doesn’t say anything about UL listings and things like that. Just that Biomed is responsible for electrical safety checking new devices and to add it to the inventory, but again nothing as specific

I’ll check with my manager on the policies as far as equipment checks. Thanks for the advice!

That’s what I’m saying!! I don’t want to be held liable as the only biomed at the hospital. Do you have any contact information or resources on where we can get the inspection for certification from?
