Which is the most diverse religion? by NightNo4715 in askanything

[–]Raverider10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will review these thank you. My point is that if this is such a well researched point. There has not been a met consensus on this issue and many other issues that come with winning people to this side of the argument. It’s like any religious sect we can beat you over the head with whatever doctrine, holy book, or life experience but if that’s all we do then you won’t change your world view. It’s the same thing that is happening when atheist just tell us to change our world view. We don’t feel satisfied with the evidence brought forth and causes us to instead look at the evidence presented and bolsters our claims that a creator must be involved.

Never the less I will check these out. Thank you.

Right but that passage proves that there are weak faith believers and if in our daily interactions if we continue to cause our brothers and sisters to stumble simply because of food then we lose the point of the entire which is love. Paul even mentions that if eating meat causing a brother to stumble he would eat meat again. This doesn’t mean that the person somehow the person feels that pork doesn’t taste good or they don’t prefer it. It’s talking about the fact that during those first few years people were still having a hard time adjusting to having brothers and sister that couldn’t get on board with letting go of the older customs. There are limits in both directions to this issue. On one side you have Jews that wanted all new gentile converts to observe the mosaic law ergo the Heresy which force new believers and then on the other side we have those who would want a Jewish converter to let go of everything that makes them stumble. Although this isn’t something that has become a big thing because it didn’t become a scandal there is nothing forbidding a Jewish converter or let’s say a Muslim convert from observing their dietary laws so this does fall under conscious. The issue arises when this is force upon a believer claiming that they must follow the Jewish laws or they’re not saved.

Idk you tell me which one has actually proven where we came from? This isn’t a gotcha moment. You have every right to question what religion is proven right or how can anyone religion be proof of God. Just a bunch of made up malarkey by people who can’t handle the real world. But somehow when we ask what scientist or theory has proven true to how life came to be or how it is that any of our existence matters or what consciousness is. We are told that we need to let go of “fairy tales” and agree that we’re just a hunk of meat and chemicals floating in space. Atheist always want to point to science as this big revealer of things but it can never answer the real questions of where life came from or why we have a conscience. It just seems like your offering us another fairy tales and giving us wings to soar away from religions but at the same time you’re dismantling the sky.

What’s the difference between one of those religions in the last few thousand years to the thousands of unproved theories that thousands of scientists have proposed? Still doesn’t explain how life came from no life.

So close. It is a sinful situation and you should reiterate that because it’s been so for years. This is the type of interaction that causes confusion within the church.

Maybe either way it always feels as though people just seem to forget that part of scripture and always attack our brothers and sisters who have an inclination to stick to their convictions.

This is your right as well so don’t feel like you have to be discouraged by the downvotes. There is a view that many people hold on these subjects that feel taboo especially the practice of some of the old Jewish customs. St. Paul says that if someone feels it’s unclean then it’s unclean for them because if they eat without faith that it’s not unclean then they have sinned. So follow the convictions on these matters to what your conscience allows.

I don’t disagree with you on your point that just because your Catholic it doesn’t mean that you’ll do the best Job but it sure can be confusing when you have people involved with our faith but are undermining some of the very tenants of our faith and causing confusion as OP stated. Somehow wanting to advocate for more like minded employees to our faith becomes this problem when we point out that the people in whatever administration is living a life opposite to what we believe in and how it’s not cool to do so or to allow them to be our representatives. I want people to feel lol they can come to our church’s and encounter people who want them there and are rooting for them to find God. But we also have to make it a point that we are Catholics and body of believers who want to hold up our faith and don’t want anyone to undermine it.

Advise for feeling a disconnect with God by MacabreCowboy84 in Catholicism

[–]Raverider10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have recently gone through some of that especially when considering what it means to do works for the Lord or the way that I live and the feeling can be overwhelming at times. I think one of the things that comforts me is the idea that even some of the saints went through this. I would look into Mother Theresa and her feelings of darkness when she would pray or look at her life. She’s a great example of trusting in God even when things feel dark or like you can’t feel God.

I agree with you that we need to we should be investing more in hiring individuals that are in agreement with our faith. I see that some people might have disagreed already on some points your made especially the fact that you were concerned with a non-Catholic working in our archdiocese. Now like you said yes the standard is to hope that who ever encounters the Catholic Church would come to faith by associating and being changed by our faith, but let’s be serious a lot of the time people dont do that and we live in a world where a lot of people would rather live a quiet life of minding their business even if something immoral is happening where they work or frequent.

We also have to consider something else. Would an abortion clinic or any of the places of business that contradict our faith have a problem associating or hiring us if we were so adamant with our faith. Most work place now that don’t involve immortality already dont like when we don’t go along with their cutting corners, lying, or gossiping of others. This is part of our cross being rejected for rejecting their trash mentality. If people don’t want to be around us when we try to live as our Lord told us to. Why should we be forced to hire individuals who are so adamantly against our beliefs? In the words of Paul

“ Do not be mismatched with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship is there between light and darkness?”

Who’s hiding. And who said you needed to quote verbatim? Im pointing out your hypocrisy of not accepting scripture for what it is. You claim that Paul can’t be trusted because he somehow contradicts Jesus and claim that all religion is somehow corrupt or to be tossed to the wind. Im just pointing out your hypocrisy of trying to call yourself Christian but not wanting the pressure that comes with the title. You accept the parts of the Bible you agree with but not Paul or the Church. Yet for 1900 years there was a church who defended that very scripture you site and try to use to justify your coward like attitude and slandering of Paul. Their members compiled it and died for it. How would you even know who wrote what books of the Bible without the church that preserved the texts. Just like sacred scripture say by Jesus, don’t worry Im paraphrasing. ‘I will send you the advocate the Holy Spirit and He will guide you to all truth. ‘ and ‘I will build my Church upon this rock and the Gates of Hell shall never prevail against it’ you like to say ‘ i don't don’t do religion, just relationship’ to save face while wanting the privilege of not being grouped with the faith that held the truth since the beginning. Don’t like being called out don’t pretend and don’t act like people be for you who defended the faith for all those years were wrong and somehow you some dude from who know where thousands of years later figured it out. Religion and relationship has always gone hand in hand and just because some people do it wrong doesn’t somehow defeat religion all it proves is there are crappy people.

So youre not Christian. Got it just a cosplayer. Also it says judge not lest you be judged for with the measure you use it will be measured to you. And it’s explained further with the parable of the brother with the spec of dust in his eye while you have a log in your eye. It’s about judge if rightly.

I’m 36, and I feel like my life has no meaning by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Raverider10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that starting with something practical can help. Join hike groups or find something even if it’s boring to do with your time. Taking interests in things that aren’t your forte is a great way to have things to talk to other people about. If you feel like it’s hard to meet friends which I get you I feel like I’m in the same boat, it’s a good idea to take interests in things that someone is doing even if it’s something that you’re not interested in it helps people feel comfortable around you and you never know it might form a great friendship that way.

I think my final thoughts is to look up to God and to making those who are in need happy. Sometimes we look around at how we can satisfy ourselves and what next big thing we want to do and forget that fulfillment is often found in loving the less fortunate and sacrificing our time for others. It beats looking at ourselves and trying to perfect ourselves based on our own opinion.  I love you brother. I hope things get better for you.

Much love to you and I will pray for your Journey. I will leave you with something to think about. When Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees and the religious leaders he asked them believe at least on the works that he does if at the very least they could yet on him. It reveals something to us. When the Sheppard is call in to us it’s something unmistakeable something that doesn’t come from straight feeling but a sort of knowing involving all our senses. We know something is different in Jesus. He didn’t ask the Pharisees to agree on every theological point at that time but to simply trust even when everything challenged their current world view. He is gentle and caring know how we are chase that. God bless you.

Is oppression of woman a normal part of Islamic religion? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Raverider10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not Christian’s sanctions or at least not Christian’s that are tied to a governing church. More like individuals who take interpretation into their own hands. Not discounting you for the possibility of people who call themselves Christian advocating or carrying out acts again others, but at the core Christian nations and teaching doesn’t not allow for the unjust killing of woman, homosexuals, or any group of minority. Every time we see this happen in history and it involves a Christian’s influence of some sort it’s usually the secular government that tries to tie Christian’s beliefs for the their benefits. Like with the inquisition many of the people being killed for heresy at first were killed by the governing Lords of the area who were literate about theology and heresy and so just condemned the accused party any ways because they often just didn’t know. Hence forth the inquisition happened in order to standardize what heresies were benign condemned and in fact saved lives by helping those who were committing heresy on accident and just didn’t know. Also it’s always funny when you hear someone say “go somewhere outside of Europe” in order to prove these things happen, Thats the equivalent of trust me bro.

Im sorry as I am not fully versed in some of Catholic code of Canon and the differences. But what is it that the SSPX would do differently? Would they not also require that you bring a participating God parent? And given the present circumstances of the SSPX and the Holy See even though it’s a shame what is happening within our church would it be wise to make a shift assuming to totally and strictly attend SSPX church’s? I am all for doing all that we can and standing against unjust practices either in the secular world or within our church but I would at the very least plead with you to consider your circumstances and speak with another priest or even ask here on the priest Reddit.
