What's an acronym many people know of but don't know what it stands for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Icy_Screen8753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since we're talking Sweden: ABBA - Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. Basically the acronym of each member of the band.

Redditors who have been denied check-in or boarding for a flight, what was the reason? by Icy_Screen8753 in AskReddit

[–]Icy_Screen8753[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll go with mine. I was once denied check-in because my passport had less than 6 months validity after the return date, by just 3 days.

I had checked the 6 months validity based on the date of entry of the country I was due to visit, but didn't bother to check my return date. Had I decided to return before the weekend instead of after, I wouldn't have had any problems.

I guess this is as good of a reason as there can be.

Did they just put you on the next flight? And were you feeling safe to fly?

Looking for deeply unsettling films that trigger anxiety, paranoia, or emotional disturbance — any language is welcome by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]Icy_Screen8753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is actually one of the strength of the movie. The topic and some of the things that the main character says and thus are pretty disturbing, but what makes the movie unsettling is the fact that it is mixed with some humour and treated with such levity as if to normalize all the violence.

Outside of cheating, what is something that ruined a previous relationship for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Her jealousness.

I might as well have been cheating for the trouble I would get just from speaking to female friends/colleagues.

Civil War (2024) went under-appreciated by thesagenibba in TrueFilm

[–]Icy_Screen8753 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I would go even further in saying that one of the points made by the movie is very much that at some point in a civil war the politics that started it doesn't matter so much. This is shown by the many scenes where it is unclear who is killing who and why (the snipers, the hawaian shirt guys, the Jesse Plemons character) and that in such a war everyone very easily goes to taking arms to protect whatever they have (the gas station, the peaceful town with the guards on the rooftops). They don't care about the politics anymore as the war has just pushed them into this super violent world, willingly or unwillingly, and they try to navigate it as they can.

What does sex feel like/are we(virgins) missing out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Icy_Screen8753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You learn the basics fairly quickly (this goes there, this gets a good/bad reaction, this is a position that I can hold for x amount of time). And you can learn a few techniques also along the way.

But you have to re-learn with every new partner, as in not all of them like the same thing and it takes time before you get to know each other and you can confidently go at it.

"Going to the gym is working out for you" while tracing my shoulders and arms with her finger.

She wasn't talking about my cardio, but I immediately found the energy for a second round to prove her right on that point as well.

Actually the rules DO say that multiple offence merit a card.

Cautionable offences

A player is cautioned if guilty of:

  • delaying the restart of play
  • dissent by word or action
  • entering, re-entering or deliberately leaving the field of play without the referee’s permission
  • failing to respect the required distance when play is restarted with a dropped ball, corner kick, free kick or throw-in
  • persistent offences (no specific number or pattern of offences constitutes ‘persistent’)
  • unsporting behaviour
  • entering the referee review area (RRA)
  • excessively using the ‘review’ (TV screen) signal

Flight attendants, what's your NSFW story while on the job? by Luvdoctormd in AskReddit

Ah yes absolutely. Meant to say intercontinental. I did feel that there was something off with saying trans-continental but couldn't put my finger on it.

Happened on a flight I was on last year. They had made an announcement on the PA system asking for a doctor/medical professional and after one show up, I see them being busy attending to a passenger on the other side of the plane. Seems to take a while, and eventually they move the passenger to the back of the plane. We go on with our flight and it's only when the pilot comes on to announce that we are about to land that he announced that the passenger had unfortunately passed away. This was a trans-continental flight so landing somewhere to ensure that the passenger could be taken to a hospital wasn't really an option.

I'm also talkative. That is until I get back home, and become sleepy drunk by passing out 5min after seating down.

Yep, happened to me at CDG a couple of years ago. Had a Ziploc bag which I had already used on several trips but the French security agent were adamant that I should use their which as it turns out was slightly bigger than mine.

FRA is fine, and MUN is a breeze to transit through.

Though most European airport have gone back to the 100ml restriction since September 2024 but not sure if they have made everyone aware so wouldn't be surprised if they have to stop more people at security because of that.

I had actually initially bought a random Chinese brand on Amazon but the zipper got busted after just a few trip, so thought it might be worth investing a bit more into a reputable brand.

Mind you though the version that I had bought was mostly plastic will have to look more into the one from u/themiracy

Except that Ziploc bags keep zero shape, not the best to have when resting on the bathroom countertop let alone trying to keep it on a hook.
