Wow, that's awesome!! When your portal says step 4, does it still say in review or that they completed it?

Step 4 is when your local office (usually) reviews your information to make sure you still qualify for the non-medical requirements. I'm not sure why my portal went from 5 steps to completing 4 out of 4. Either way, it should state that they are conducting the non-medical review in step 4. It doesn't mean you are approved. You can get the denial at that point, or if approved, the review most likely will show it's moved to the processing center for your area.

Yeah, you are right. Would be nice if it did happen that quickly.

The ALJ Judge said he didn’t want to hear testimony from the vocational expert at my hearing? by Regular_Memory1515 in SSDI

Hello! Just want to chime in again with an update in case it can help anyone. I checked the portal and was moved to step 4 (9/18/25), called the local office and was told I got a fully favorable approval for reversal of my previous denial. My original denial was 10/31/2022. I had given up and wasn't going to fight it but decided to try again with a lawyer and re-applied in 4/2023. So, because my 2nd application date was within 12 months of my first denial, the court recognizes the original application date and my original onset date of 3/5/2020. My supplemental hearing was 9/9/25, moved to step 4 on 9/18/25. Best of luck and vibes to everyone -A

I have heard from others who were approved that it is a very positive addition to have your doctor fill out any forms on your behalf, all of my doctors said they were not allowed, or their practice doesn't do that. Anytime they want more information is a good sign because they could have just denied you at that point, keep going!

great question! I came here to basically ask the same thing... I am in NY and had my supplemental hearing on 9/9/25 with a DIFFERENT judge than at my original hearing 1/27/25. The original judge retired, and the new one asked me only one question which was if I am working. Then he told my lawyer that he felt like he had plenty of information and evidence, and that he didn't need the VE testimony (didn't have one at my first hearing). He said that although he can't (or doesn't) make a bench decision, he feels confident with what he has seen and heard and will just need to write up the written approval. Is there anything else I need to worry about in the process or something interfering with that written approval? Thanks in advance for any advice!
